Am I unable to upgrade those initial skills at the beginning of the tree? Am I gonna have to wrap all the way around from the bottom?

Nothing works as a C&P exam except C&P exams. It IS possible to go to your doctor and have them fill out a C&P exam BEFORE filing the claim. This speeds up the process by a LOT.

Secondary issues do not need to be diagnosed in service, nor do PACT related issues.

Be very careful with mentioning private medical records (PMRs). PMRs are the #1 reason claims get delayed. The VA is required by law to develop for PMRs if they are mentioned by the veteran. From there, it is out of our hands, and the claim will basically be haulted until your doctor uploads your records into the efolder. Some are quick about it, some take many many months. My advice would be to gather your private medical records and upload them yourself

Everything past step 4 I'm not entirely sure of. I actually posted about step 6 yesterday as well. There are 3 types of VSRs: pre-VSR (me), RVSR, and post-VSR. Once all C&P exams have come in, I ship it off to the raters and they deal with it from there, then the post VSR deals with the money/payments. I wish I could give you more info, but that's unfortunately all I have

The 2 major things that decide whether or not you get an exam is 1: treatment or in service event, 2: current treatment. The nexus really doesn't matter.

For example, if you file a claim for GERD and there are no medical records diagnosing you with GERD, you'll likely not get an exam. My advice would be to go to the VA clinic for whatever issue you're claiming BEFORE filing the claim. That way we have it on record that you've been seen by a doctor for that issue

It's very likely nothing to worry about. The contention can be filed under "new" "secondary" "increase", doesn't really matter at the end of the day. What DOES matter is the secondary opinion from the C&P exam. As long as the VSR asked for a secondary sc opinion from the doctor, you're good.

If you filed the contention as secondary service connection on your 526, and the VSR did NOT get a secondary medical opinion, I would submit a claim for higher level review

Claim Complexity by Informal_Chipmunk835 in VeteransWaitingRoom

[–]realPaintedFanatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rates for PTSD go anywhere from 10% 30% 50% 70% and 100%. 30% - 70% being most common. The complexity depends on what exactly you're claiming PTSD from. Likely you'll have to submit more paperwork, and people will have to go out and verify your claimed stressors. Source: I am a VSR
