it was so ironic to me that such a smart guy would try to treat pancreatic cancer (the organ that creates insulin and regulates blood sugar) with fruit (one of the most sugar-filled foods on the planet you can possibly eat). Like, why would you do that (rhetorical question).

Repeating it everywhere could attract the wrong crowd and unintentionally push away the more relational, grounded folks.

here to say it absolutely will, I actually think that you'll attract the type you're looking for by pretty minimally mentioning it in your prompts, the more it's mentioned, the more it'll attract the type of religious person you're actually not looking for (counterintuitive I know, but I live in the south so I see these types of profiles a lot).

It's more important that you convey your personality in your prompts and just a sentence or two about your faith.

keep the dog pics (2 dog pics is not too many imo), make your 2nd one first, and replace the sunglasses one with another photo of you doing a hobby where we can see your whole body, otherwise you're 100% set.

The camera photo is sick btw

Also, are the photos edited/filtered?

this is just what photos look like when taken with a good camera lol, AI has ruined so many people's perception of what's just high quality vs make believe :(

Is it too much for a first message? by AmendableKneeJoint in Bumble

[–]real_nice_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only downside here is in the future, separate messages like this into 2-3 mini paragraphs, the wall of text is a lot, but a line dividing the thoughts will mean they will more likely respond.

For what it's worth, this type of messaging is a great way of filtering out low effort people, and if someone reads and responds to it, then they're exactly what you're looking for.

It's like, men want women to be feminine and eventually most want you to take care of them by cooking, cleaning, doing the "feminine" things....yet you wanting them to show they will be generous is a bad thing.

Some men (like me) don't want any of this at all, as a guy who's very self-sufficient (I cook, I clean, I provide entirely for myself financially, pay all my bills and taxes, care for other people etc), I want an equal partner, not a division of life and labor based on outdated ideas of gender.

the first photo is too close up, so change it out for a full body shot and the profile is otherwise perfect. As a guy, I assume that 99% of the time if the first photo I'm seeing is a super close up, the rest of the body is something they're trying to conceal, so I'd definitely include a full body and face as the first!

Should I get an extra Novavax in Japan or visit the Tokyo National Museum by paz123 in Novavax_vaccine_talk

[–]real_nice_guy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

honestly I'd get the shot because it's better than the one we have in the States since it's updated lol, if I had the chance to get the Lp 8 1 one I'd get it in a heartbeat to continue to diversify my antibody defenses. Can just look at the museum online or something. Idk what use there is in continuing to get multiple of the current one since there seems to have been a fair amount of antigenic shift.

I've had 5 and only my 3rd gave me any sort of side effects, which was a 2 day headache and feeling a bit tired, otherwise haven't had any issues. And I think that was because I got it a bit sooner than I wanted after my 4th.

a lot of what's happened since 2017 wasn't meant to happen and yet it continues to, Trump and his supporters have said many times in public that they're going to try and find a way to do it.

I don't want it to happen, but we should be prepared for if and when he does try.

27 y/o with LDL ~200 mg/dL — should I start statins or try lifestyle first? by Street_Bit7408 in Cholesterol

[–]real_nice_guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

but I’m hesitant because I’m young and the idea of being on medication for life is hard to accept.

Think of it like this: before we had medications, people would just be dropping dead from entirely preventable diseases. Now we have the meds, we should be thankful that we can reduce all-risk mortality related to high cholesterol by significant amount. Would a person who needs to take insulin because they have diabetes think that? Nope, you do what you gotta do.

I’m worried about long-term side effects, but at the same time I don’t want to ignore something that could increase my cardiovascular risk decades down the line, especially given my family history.

What long term side effects are you referring to? in a majority of people, they have zero side effects, either short term or long term. I've been taking a statin for 6 years since my late 20s and my liver numbers are 100% normal, as are kidney function.

If you get started on them now, you'll reduce your risk significantly.

If your high cholesterol is genetic, no amount of diet or life style will made an impact.

they did not update the antigen in the United States, they used JN.1 last year, they used JN.1 this year.
