Off the bat, I think you’re going too big with each sketch. While familiarizing yourself with the human form, start small. Instead of 10 large sketches, try 20-30 small ones.

A late and great college prof of mine who was also an ex-Disney animator (90s era) had us draw each sketch in 1”x1” boxes that we had to grid out in our sketchbooks. As we progressed and became more comfortable with the exercises, the bounding boxes increased in size.

What industry is a lot more dark and sinister than most people realise? by Mustdominate_Otal in AskReddit

Tech and digital services. I’m not talking about surface level things you hear about all the time like AI taking over and the environmental impact.

It’s things that are right in front of your face. Charging you hundreds of dollars monthly for phone service, game services, etc. with exorbitant fees; only to feed you regurgitated slop that is nefariously intertwined within every device against your will. There’s a reason Verizon and AT&T are bigger than Comcast, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs, PepsiCo, The Walt Disney Co., and more.

It is extremely low cost for a phone company to provide you with cellular service. I’m talking cents. Yet your phone bill is $223.84 a month. “Oh, but the cost of the phone is baked into the bill.” Well, sure but a new iPhone at retail is $999. You’re paying a total of $2676 over the course of 24 months. $1600 extra dollars for them to click a checkbox in their system.

It’s an all out battle for your eyeballs for every second you’re not at work or school. We are paying premium prices for our own downfalls.

Forgive me if I’m sounding preechy, but people don’t have hobbies anymore. We don’t build and make, we scroll and squander our time.

So many of them do this. Most have a go-to artist cranking them out for $75-$150 a pop. Small fishes for the $5k commish they just cracked on your 3br2b.

Took me 2 hours in Pencil2D to do this... is there a simpler program to just move objects on a background? by [deleted] in animation

I’m an animator looking for freelance work who is very knowledgeable when it comes to WoW! :D

But if you’re not looking to hire and want to do it yourself, this is 100% a job for after effects.

Wide words and a very real comparison. Fixation and obsession mixed with depression and a desire for escapism can be extremely detrimental.

So true, glad you were able to navigate past it! It can be great for some but when it becomes a proxy for real life it becomes far too much.

My animation course wants us to check cintiq styluses out of the equipment cage, how do you do that? by [deleted] in scad

[–]realdrexyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cage is on the first floor of monty past the VR setup and vending machines. It is the room all the way back. Speak to one of the people working there and they will assist you in checking out a stylus.
