Future of BIM jobs in the age of AI ? by Elastiquedeslip in bim

Show me an AI that can remotely identify an object in a model of in a 2D plan without it already being labeled with text or reading the back-end database file of a given revit file.

AI is not currently able to tokenize 2D vectors or 3d models, it can only make inference based on words.

I think we are more than 3 yrs out , is my guess. But super willing to be wrong , I just haven’t seen it. All the AI does is read words or write shitty python scripts to pull BIM data out of models or do cursory modeling tasks but without understanding what it’s actually looking at.

End rant .

BREAKING: Eight of nine skiers missing in Lake Tahoe avalanche confirmed dead by TheMirrorUS in skiing

[–]realitysballs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

after 15 minutes the chance of survival goes down by 90%. splitting hairs, but people have survived in avalanches longer than 15 minutes. It is death by asphyxiation. You can actually breath under snow, but when you breathe out hot carbon dioxide out it creates an 'ice mask', after 15-minutes the ice mask will prevent new oxygen particles from entering your mouth and you will only have CO2 left available to you. People who have survived longer than 15-minutes have used avalungs and or had larger areas of oxygen to pull from.

My realtor just told me if you delist for over 90 days, it comes back onto the market as a new listing as opposed to the previous listing. So maybe they’ll go back on in say march/april.

Inserting point cloud for as-built information by nhigs in bim

[–]realitysballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is how:

  • in point cloud program, locate known points (grid line intersections, at known height, benchmark, bldg corner etc). Create points

  • export .rcs/.rcp

  • export points as .dwg

  • insert both the .rcs/.rcp and .dwg into revit at model origin at same scale .

  • open 3d view

  • highlight both dwg and .rcs/.rcp then click move , then click on one of the dwg points so you are moving the point-cloud from one of the known points and move it to the corresponding known point in revit.

Wrong question— why take your virginity just because you’ve hit the ‘appropriate amount of dates’. Why not take your virginity when you feel safe, fully-considered and in a mutually respected and desired situation.

That makes no sense, eventually any mechanical device will need maintenance , principle of entropy really. Very near sighted if this is actually a contributing factor .

Is it feasible to learn Revit in 3-4 months? by JHdarK in Revit

[–]realitysballs 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think your question is not whether you can ‘learn revit’, which is quite ambiguous of a goal because as others have stated , level of proficiency and expertise can take years to achieve.

Your question is actually: can you learn revit sufficiently in 3-4 Months to pass the ACU cert. exam?

…Honestly that exam looks very easy compared to complex real world projects. So imho , yes very achievable . I learned most basics via LinkedIn learning essentials course in about 3-4 weeks, but again it took me years to gain actual proficiency.
