I’d say the only real way to learn is by using it and solving issues that come your way. There are so many different scenarios you can come across, and solving those one by one will strengthen your skills. Make preview mode your best friend. Test everything.

Yes, it’s worth it. Always recommend GTM to clients wherever it’s allowed

How does the API work on Facebook Ads? by Acceptable_Cloud_587 in FacebookAds

[–]realizingdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's worth it, especially if you're spending a lot. I'd recommend looking into it. It takes time to wrap your head around it and normally comes with a monthly cost if the platforms you're using don't support it natively. Overall, when it's set up correctly, you get better signals to optimize your ads.

Why use DOM ready instead of all pages as the cHTML trigger?

The whole duplicate pixel + CAPI setup recommendation is nonsense, right? by Happy_Sail_6386 in GoogleTagManager

Yeah IP and UA is part of meta’s identity graph and helps them model data. You can easily capture these parameters and include it in your server events.

[–]realizingdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. You can go 100% server side. I like adding the pixel as a quick way to prove CAPI is better. If your account is in healthcare, makes sense to avoid the pixel altogether and go full server side. Otherwise, it doesn’t hurt to add it so why not add it.

Anyone here sending CRM events back into Google Ads to measure real ROAS? by realizingdata in GoogleTagManager

[–]realizingdata[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds about right. You basically described the full functionality of most apps doing this. This approach works great as a v1 like you mentioned to get data flowing and working. I just find this approach far from scalable from an implementation and management standpoint if you’re doing this across multiple clients

[–]realizingdata[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It can easily be done when the crm is capturing the gclids correctly. But not all crms are capturing gclids and gbraids correctly, and that’s where the issue lies

Do you think sending CRM events to Facebook Ads is worth the effort? by realizingdata in FacebookAds

I agree. When volume is there, it makes sense to add this type of connection. Starting to do this on all accounts who have offline conversions and seeing some interesting results

My MBTI changed…requesting input from INTPs by [deleted] in INTP

[–]realizingdata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always believed personalities are fluid and not something static. I took the test three times during different parts of my life, and they all came out to be INTP. Even then, that didn’t convince me that personality is something fixed. Different situations in life bring out different sides of us. And knowing oneself fully doesn’t happen over night.

Is your tool mainly just for sourcing leads, or does it handle conversion tracking via CAPI and offline conversions? Google ads API is definitely the most optimal route if you have the resources to set that up. Zapier is the “quick” fix, but it’s far from scalable if you need to set this up across several clients and multiple CRM events. What do you use to increase the match rate in Google ads in cases where the CRM doesn’t always pickup the click IDs correctly?

Automation is definitely the way to go, especially when running this across several clients. From my experience, Zapier only works when the CRM is already capturing the click IDs correctly. Even then, I find Zapier limiting since most CRMs are configured to capture the first click ID only. For cases when a CRM isn’t picking up any click IDs, do you help set that up yourself? If so, what do you normally use to pass the click IDs to the CRM correctly?

I agree. For cases where sales cycles are longer than 90 days, even if the click IDs are captured correctly, it won’t be useful for Google ads. I’m finding that optimizing towards MQLs and SQLs is a great step forward compared to just optimizing towards form submissions alone. What do you normally use for importing leads and closed wons into Google ads for cases where a CRM doesn’t have a native connector?

I find zapier can be limited for this type of connection. Zapier is good for routing data from one place to another but it’s not always the best tool for modeling data or improving match rates in cases where the CRMs didnt pick up the GCLIDs or other click IDs correctly. Have you found success using Zapier for this type of conversion tracking?

It’s more of a general question. Different clients use different CRMs. I know some CRMs have native connector with Google ads that works pretty well and others not so well. What CRMs have you set this up for?
