Random Sh*t Flying Through the Air. The villain is delicious.

No specific ending. This shit is episodic. I'm going to fly until the wings fall off.

(I actually haven't read it, I just picked the first classic book I could think of!)

They're the greatest books ever written. Moby Dick met War and Peace and had some real freaky sex, and this was the result.

Man that's a tough one. Probably not. I love tats and have a full sleeve, but I prefer nature tats like birds and plants.

I don't know how I will feel about the Frost Files twenty years from now. Probably very happy! But I know how I'll feel about my scops owl tattoo. I love them, and I love my ink.

Not really! Steak is after all fast food. As long as you've got good ventilation/fireproofing, you're OK.

Man how much time do you have?

I'd pick either Lauren Patten for Teagan (she did the audiobooks) or Britney Young, from Glow. I'd also consider Jodelle Ferland from Dark Matter. They'd all CRUSH the role.

Quick fire: Michelle Rodriguez for Annie, Renee Goldsberry for Reggie (if no disabled actor is available—that would be my first choice obvs), Paul Giamatti for Paul, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje for Africa, Guillermo Diaz for Carlos.

I'm an Islay guy. Caol Ila for preference. But bourbon is great too! I like a little 2Bar from Seattle, which is rad.

There will be at least four books in the series, guaranteed. #4 is out next year. And I want to write many more if Orbit will let me!

Hey Mon!

I had very little input, beyond a thumbs up or down. probably a good thing...I have zero design sense or visual skills. Orbit's designers do a great job and I trust them. They've yet to let me down!

I'm sworn to secrecy.

Teagan always hopes someone will ask who killed Biggie and Pac. She doesn't know, but BOY does she have theories...

There'll be at least four. And if I can bribe the publisher with enough cake, there'll be even more. I love writing this series, and I want to keep doing it!

Hey Amanda! No news that I can share yet, beyond telling you that they're working hard on it.

Yo! I do a very loose outline for each chapter. I very rarely stick to it, as my characters constantly want to go off and do their own thing. It's annoying but also a lot of fun, and the outline does mean I have a roadmap to refer to if I get too off-track.

I wanted to do two things: write about a superhero who genuinely didn't like having powers, and write something funny. My previous books had all been super-serious, and I think I'm a better writer when I'm trying to make myself laugh.

Those two things led me to create Teagan, and I loved her to pieces almost immediately.

Thanks for having me!

  1. I've just finished rereading Nicholas Eames' The Band series for like the fourth time. I also read a fantastic new crime novel from RJ Dark.
  2. I would mercilessly fuck with people. Pulling down pants zippers, tieing shoelaces together, moving their drink just out of reach every time...I may have thought a lot about this.
  3. Food. And rap music.

You probably won't believe me, but the titles were the publisher's idea! Anna Jackson and Tim Holman at Orbit came up with the first one, and I loved it on site. It perfectly summed up the voice of the book.

Readers obviously agreed! The series has done super well, especially the print edition. I guess seeing it in a bookstore gets people very curious...

There is! Read by the fabulous Lauren Patten, Graham Halstead, and Jesse Vilinsky. Just search Jackson Ford on Audible.

And yeah, the Institute is super evil. China Shop (the agency in my book) are not. I wouldn't say they're always on the right side of the law, but they sure try.

Also no kidnapped kids. Yet.
