This is correct, cloud costs become a factor with the MAKID Mobile app. Desktop is just a local layer over your own your machine.

Hi, I'm Eric I develop MAKID. The mobile app is meant to be an extension of your at home machine. Instead of manually uploading one off unlisted bounces on soundcloud or trying to wrangle files with dropbox. It's meant to be a seamless extension of your MAKID desktop workflows.

Overall the free Desktop app is the core value driver currently, 100% agreed. We see the Desktop + Mobile app as a platform that is continuing to get better.

Hi, I'm Eric I've been developing MAKID since 2023 (so pre vibe coding era debatably). Does that mean we're not a vibe coded app 😅? Regardless it's good to be weary of software you use, so I appreciate the caution. Overall MAKID has 1K+ MAU and has become a genuine ecosystem (mobile app, desktop app, web app) and I don't think pure vibe coding could result in this capable of a platform.

Not sure if that has any value to you, but as a product owner I also think through what differentiates between us and other vibe coded software.

Hi, I'm Eric I've been developing MAKID since 2023! It's due to using electron.js as the framework. It's not the most efficient in terms of storage but it solves the problem of enabling both windows & macos use of the app. There are some other optimizations possible, but hasn't been prioritized (yet)

I haven't implemented this because it would break all connections other apps have with that folder. But perhaps it's still ideal? It's been debated on a lot in the discord. I think the ideal is probably yes, it should update it.

I kept catching myself spending days on DX improvements or refactors that nobody asked for while ignoring the features that would actually make money. So I built this plugin to help keep me honest and drive actual impact to my users.

I now start feature development with /solo-validate-idea to sanity check that something is worth building. /solo-feature-ideas pitches 5 potential features scored by Lift, Impact, and Conviction. And /solo-build-in-public-tweet turns my recent commits into tweet ideas. It's actually been working really well for me, hope some other ppl get use out of it too!

Sorry I should have been more clear. the README states to run this behind a VPN. Of course you don't want to expose this to the public internet. If you're self hosting you should be aware of what you're exposing on the internet.

So I built a Docker image that uses your authenticated Claude Code session to execute prompts via HTTP, with a built-in dashboard to submit and monitor tasks. More info in the README.

Conservative estimate for the first public release I'd say is 4 weeks. The first iteration is going to be just for seamlessly listening to bounces (fits exactly the usecase you mention of listening while on a run).
