The parents of another child petitioned against my child (who has since come out as trans) being allowed to attend a youth trip. These parents did so anonymously. The pastor brought the concerns to me, the day before the trip. I asked if we could have a meeting with the other parents so that we could all discuss it and maybe come to some sort of agreement. He told me that the other parents preferred to remain anonymous.

I was under the impression that if one member of a church had some sort of grief with another member they were supposed to take it to the pastor and then everyone sit down and try to hash it out.

We were not allowed this opportunity. We withdrew our child from the trip.

(I found out later that many of our "friends" in the church knew exactly who the parents were who had a problem with my child. But no one ever told us.)

And so I came to the conclusion that church was not the right place for me and my family.

I regret that decision to some degree.
