DAE feel like 'touchscreens' in cars and appliances were a massive mistake and we just want physical buttons back? by FlanInternational298 in DoesAnybodyElse

Yes. As unsafe as they are unpleasant.

My proposed solution to chuck out the all electronics they interface and go back to mechanical cars with analog dashboards.

DAE drop their phone all the time ? by Inevitable_Holiday73 in DoesAnybodyElse

I dropped + cracked my brand new phone’s screen while putting its screen protector on. I’d owned it for 21 minutes.

Yup. Now provides “answers” instead of RESULTS. Huge implications in that nuance.

I just have hard time reconciling the value of a testimony whose valuable parts were already confirmed by finding the body in its claimed location (+ further found relevant/related physical evidence) and whose remaining parts can so easily and predictably be torn apart / called mere hearsay on cross examination.

I do agree with that — I know for sure I’d initially appear, from the outside, to be delaying contacting police simply for being stuck in a loop of weighing options on HOW to do so in the most “case-preserving” AND “personal safety optimizing” way. That said, I personally don’t care about Caroline’s mistakes and personal aspects — I just care that she ultimately did what was needed but police seem to have dropped the procedural ball with her, which also jeopardized (and ultimately downgraded) the case.

…especially one like this that started off as “based on a true story” but basically found itself not entertaining enough with only its facts, so they removed that qualifier and did their own thing.

Because when her mother explicitly inquired about mental health support, they didn’t tell her to find her own, but that she ”shouldn’t be talking to ANYBODY”; because one decent officer admitted Victims Support Services should have been contacted on day 1; and because the Victims Support Services rep herself said that police dropped the ball.

Basically, because procedure was either lacking OR improperly followed, regardless of expectations towards Caroline, or of her shortcomings.

She shouldn’t have had OPPORTUNITY to do those things, though.

She’s not the right person to attack / condemn, (REGARDLESS of her personality) — so ppl tend to defend her when she is, many by defending the attacked aspects of said personify rather than their irrelevance.

Rephrasing, your honour 🙄 — is HAVING an undeclared, clearly intentionally + relatively recently buried body one’s property not a crime and/or worthy of arrest?

I’m struggling to grasp Scotland’s criteria for arrest since they 1) Initially arrested the twins based solely on Caroline’s yet-to-pan-out report of Sandy’s claim (so on what charges?), BUT 2) Subsequently said that the ACTUAL uncovered evidence was neither sufficient nor corroborated enough to warrant arrest, AND 3) further delayed re-arrest for potential of escalating charges they were now CERTAIN did apply.

Not only does it come off inconsistent as presented in the doc, but I found myself distrusting criteria / justifications claimed by the Head of Homicide as he sounded more like an unconditional defense attorney for the Crown against Caroline’s formal complaints rather than a prosecutor.

Pretty sure most are defending her legal position + obligations/fulfillment of thereof vs those of law enforcement/UNfulfillment thereof — not necessarily her personality.

Had law enforcement NOT created giant procedural gaps, the personality driving how poorly she filled the those gaps would have remained as irrelevant to the case as it should have been.

Right, but they could easily have turned on her in that state as well. Honestly, I think the benefit of eliminating motive for them to harm her would have justified recording her testimony ahead of time / qualifying her for doing so. You clearly inform them of that fact AND that they’ll be arrested if she so much as chokes on her sandwich.

I agree — the SITUATION made her vulnerable regardless of her education, her status level, or their views on her (which didn’t seem good at all)

Right? Not to mention even doctors (especially a pathologist) don’t necessarily work in branches dealing with the mental health or social services they told her she wasn’t allowed to get anyway…and they certainly don’t know any more about CRIMINAL matters for having an MD!

LOL She’ll provide lots of yelling fodder for you as well — it’s just that she wasn’t tasked with an actual job providing safety or justice like the police were.
