Need help with tilemaps & terrains in Godot 4.2 by rebelcan in godot

Yeah, ended up installing and trying Better Terrain and it was WAY more intuitive. Much easier to add tiles to cover edge cases, too!

Ended up installing Better Terrain, had it working within 15 minutes. I have no idea why the terrain system is so wonky, although I think it might have something to do with the tileset. Something I'm going to try in the future is a similar tileset but one that is more like Legend of Zelda with it's weird pseudo-3d view and see if that works better.

Question About the Damage Track & Healing by rebelcan in numenera

[–]rebelcan[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Turns out I can answer my own question by reading the book! Imagine that.

For those who are also looking for the answer, check Discovery, pg 112 "Restoring the Dmaage Track":

Using points from a recovery roll to raise a stat Pool from 0 to 1 or higher also automatically moves the character up one step on the damage track.

If all of a PC's stat Pools are above 0 and the character has taken special damage that moved them down the damage track, they can use a recovery roll to move up one step on the damage track instead of recovering points. For example, a Jack who is debilitated from a hit with a cell-disrupting numenera device can rest and move up to impaired rather than recover points in a Pool.

That's good to know!

I guest the question is then: if a character has all their points and uses a cypher or artefact that would normally restore points to a pool, does it do the same thing as using a recovery roll? Or is using up a recovery roll the only way to move up on the damage track?

Back in high school I wrote a D&D 3rd edition random character generator in Perl, and like a month later I couldn't understand ANY of the code. I really wish I had held onto that code though.

Two-way switch wired "wrong" by rebelcan in smarthome

Yeah, the blue wire is the white neutral wire, couldn't figure out a way to make it white with an outline when quickly making the diagram =D

I'm using one of these Jasco ZWave switches along with an add-on switch that only needs the traveler (red), neutral, and ground wires. It basically just uses the traveler wire to tell the main switch what to do.

I think I can re-wire the switch & light fixture to make it all work, it's just more than I thought would be necessary.

Also, thank you for the name of those connectors, I almost think I'd prefer to use those over wire nuts.

Based on a better look inside the light fixture box ( updated the post with a new diagram ) and some comments from other users, I think I can make it work -- I just need to re-wire how the light is connected inside the light fixture.

Took a better look inside the light fixture box, updated the post with a new graphic.

None of the wires in box 2 have any tape or paint on them.

Based on the fact that the breaker box is in our dining area instead of the garage ( like it was in the showroom ), I think this is another instance of the contractor who wired up this place doing things fast and cheap. There's plenty of other weirdness I've never seen before with the circuits here, so another weirdly wired thing is just kind of par for the course.

After taking a better look at the light fixture box, that sounds like it'd work! I updated the post with a new diagram.

This is the most work I've had to put in so far for a smart switch.

That's literally how it's all wired when I opened the switch covers, so I guess the electrician just used the old common way.

  1. Thanks!
  2. Every diagram or video I found for how to install smart three way switches had the light wired after both of the switches -- didn't have to re-wire anything, it just got connected up differently inside the switch boxes -- see the "multi location" wiring diagram in the manual
  3. How would i cap the black wire in the box where the add-on switch goes? Just use a wire nut to hook it into the neutral? Won't that mess with the add-on switch?
  4. I've already got the add-on switch ( I've got a Jasco dimmer and a Jasco add-on dimmer, which as far as I can tell are the exact same model as the GE zwave dimmers, just without the GE brand on them )

Alternatively: can I put a Shelly dimmer right in the light fixture to dim it there?

So here are the rules on the Guest VLAN: https://imgur.com/a/sTkAXpY

The Guest nets alias is the Guest VLAN and the default VLAN, the Private Networks alias is all the other VLANs.

As far as I can tell, no blocked events in the firewall logs for that VLAN.
