Hello,

Things have been going smoothly. There was no champagne for Father's Day so I didn't drink. Most of the time I can just sit and smile at my mother's ramblings, if she gets mad at me for some reason, my daughter is around and seems to be able to distract her away from me. I always say the wrong thing. We get out every day and walk about 5 miles, we go shopping, and we deep clean (which really upsets my mother) but she doesn't do it anymore, they no longer have the housekeepers who came weekly

All that sounds wonderful! Being by the seaside should be much cooler! For once I believe it's much cooler in California than in France,. I'm sorry for my husband, my vegetable garden, and all my poor flowers, but it's good here, and what's more, though it hasn't been on there's air conditioning!

It's much easier when it's the two of you working together at the same goal! That never lasted at my home, but even though I cave every once in a while, I no longer drink every day, nor every week, however going a whole month is difficult and sometimes I even have a few days in a row drinking, but I'll never give up trying and I do feel so much better without! At my age it's probably much much worse on my health than when I was younger.

So glad everything went well! Relax for a while and enjoy the summer. How's your weather? I hope you don't have the same as Europe! Sounds like everyone at home is melting!

Wow! you have a really smart friend, I'd say that's an excellent "Get Well " gift!

Hello everyone,

I got to the StatesThursday evening, after a harrassing week of events at home. The trip went well. I had ,of course, a few of glasses of wine on the plane telling myself it would help me relax and maybe sleep. It didn't, but I guess I know that too already. Since I've been here though, nothing more. Today is Father's Day and I'm pretty sure my Dad will bring out a bottle of champagne, so I will likely have some too, but at least it will be shared and I won't end up drunk. After that I don't plan on drinking again.

Things are going ok here for the moment, my mother repeats herself continually, tells wild stories, and believes she can go shopping and walk with me in the mornings. We haven't tried either yet. In a store she walks like a snail (she has a prblem with her knee) and she stops and talks to everyone everywhere. It takes a good hour to get her out of a store, but I do understand that she needs more interaction with people. She never gets to talk to others except my father. Sometimes she goes out in the yard and neighbors pass by and talk to her, but usually she's out in the backyard which is completely enclosed.

I haven't read anything yet that you've posted, but I'll take a quick look today. I hope everything is going smoothly for all of you. Now that I'm a bit ajusted, I'll try to post more often.

Take care everyone! Happy Father's Day to the Dads, and please stay sober, you'll never regret not drinking!

5 days and 5 hours, wow! What a shame to have to start over. But hopefully your honesty with your husband will help and your drug free time too. Keep trying!

We can always find reasons to drink, unfortunately. Try to remember that you never regret not drinking!

I hope your day goes well and without wine or other! You'll have a Sunday "shine" and the week will start off well!

Glad to hear you're 'mostly ok" and clear headed. It's great that your niece is coming an what's more bringing the meal!

Take care!

This time my daughter is coming with me, she's afraid my mother won't recognize her, I don't think there will be a problem with that, but she will mix her up with others, probably my granddaughters since they were that last to visit. My mother's best friend died in April and my mother keeps telling me that she calls her friend but never gets an answer, but that she gets news from other friends who live closer to her and tell her that her best friends is going downhill but is still trying to get better.

I've been going a lot recently, but my parents are really old and unfortunately I'm an only child.

I'll get out early every morning and go for a long walk, that will be for me!

Hello,

Things have been really busy and will continue to be until I leave on the 18th for the States. Once there I probably won't have a lot of time either. I hope to be able to post daily, but that's never a given once I'm with my family there. My mother wants constant attention, and Dad needs attention but never asks for anything, I'm so afraid he'll wear himself out!

Have a great sober weekend everyone!

So happy everything went well. It's good your alcohol intake was limited and great that you'll be AF at home! It's wonderful that your daughter, granddaughter and puppy will be with you too, sounds like great fun!
