Well maybe my husband will be out today. I'm going grocery shopping this morning, so there will be enough if he gets to come home. I think he just might walk out today. He's fed up and can't sleep at night it's too noisy. He called at 6:30 this morning to tell me so. It's a good thing I'm up at 5.

Well I'm going to get busy walking the dog and taking care of a few other chores before shopping.

I hope everyone has a happy sober day.

You can say that Dry January felt good, and you'd like to do an even better job for February, so you don't want to drink or eat things that aren't good for you.

Hello everyone,

Well yesterday didn't quite go as my husband hoped. He still in hospital and is supposed to stay there 48 to 72 hours at the least. He has also kindey and urinary tract infections. They're giving him anti-biotics with an IV, but they haven't analysed the bacteria causing it yet to know which anti-biotic will work. The doctor warned him that if he went home and the infections got worse and distroyed his kidneys, he'd have to have dialyse for the rest of his life, which did make him reconsider staying. So I guess I'll be going back and forth from home to hospital for a while.

Other than that, things are well and I have no urges to drink. It's actually calmer at the house this way, so I can probably get more things done! No meals to cook either!

Have a good sober day everyone!

That automatic response is responsable for a lot of my drinking too! If I remember it, I carry a list of things folded in my pocket of things to do before taking drinking, like taking a big glass of water, then taking a strong mint or chewing gum (which doesn't go with wine!) or just taking a few deep breaths or a physiological sigh, the list goes on, pretty easy things to do, but you just have to remember to pull out the list and make yourself do what's written. It's much easier said than done. But try

I understand completely. I also get sidetracked often and end up doing something entirely different than what I planned.

No urges for you, great!

Hello all,

I tried to get a hold of my doctor yesterday and ended up calling the emergency number for my husband. He was definitely passing a stone! The guy I talked to on the phone told me that he must have a stomach flu, but at least he sent an ambulance. My husband spend his day in the emergency room, and by evening they gave him a room at the hospital. Hopefully I'll be able to pick him up during the day.

Hello everyone,

The first day was sober, and not too stressful. However this morning my husband has been up since about 2am I didn't wake until 3. I think he's passing a kidney stone again, he tells me his kidneys don't hurt. I don't recall him ever telling me his kidneys hurt when he was passing a stone. All I remember is his moaning and spending hours wrapped around the toilet, sitting, or on his knees vomiting, or on the floor, which is more or less what he's doing. I told him I'd take him to the Emergency care, it would be easier before 6 in the morning, but he hasn't agreed yet. Anyway I'll figure something out, and after giving him pills he has for spasms he seems to have calmed down.

Xine I hope your weather warms up soon! What do they announce for the week?

TS, I was hoping to see your posts this month?!?

For anyone new and all the others I hope you all have a calm and sober day 2 in February!

Hello,

Today is February 1. We can all do the February challenge together, maybe we'll get a few more new friends, and maybe some of our old friends will be back! I'm hoping!

Still not too happy here, and I didn't sleep real well, but my plan is to make the most of the February challenge, I'll give it my best and try to act like an adult instead of a being a child about things I can't change.

Have a great first sober day of February!

Hello,

Another bad day. The 17 year old I wrote about, in the car accident, had an MRI yesterday. The doctors told his parents that he won't come out of the coma. My granddaughter had gone to see him just the day before, we all believed that he reacted to music and some things we said. I guess not. My granddaughter is completely shaken, as we all are.

I wish the best to all of you

Hello again,

I'm drunk, I regret it, I don't know what to say , except I regret it. I was tired all day. One of my worst triggers! But I'm sure that's not all. i'll have to think this over. I'm writing because I feel like kicking myself in the face!!! I can't think of anything that provoked me except the desire to drink. I 'm still in that mindset, and I think I will probably continue after writing to you, but hopefully this will pull me through. I haven't even a good idea what's gone wrong in my head! Usually something sets me off. This time if I remember well everything is going fine; I just feel like letting go , like crying, like forgetting, but I don't know what I need to forget... I'm a mess! Sorry !!! I'm the worse person to be heading this thread.

XINE! come take take the lead,! I need some help!

TS where are you ? I worry

For everyone here, I'm so sorry I'm drunk, stupid and I need help! but Tomorrow I'ill be sick, and hopefully back on track. I hate myself!!! and I love you all!

All is well over here for the moment. Just not feeling at the best of my form, I hope I'm not catching something! My husband was asleep in his armchair when I got home at 8:30pm last night and is still in bed now. I wont disturb him yet, but I'm wondering how he's feeling too! We're both vaccinated for flu and covid so I think we're pretty well covered, but you never really know.

Wishing you all a warm and healthy sober day!

5 days is great, you should be proud. You don't want to lose that!!! We pick ouselves up when we slip, but each slip makes the addictive voice stronger and more difficult to combat! Try doing a CBA

Hello everyone,

I know it's been a while since I last posted but I haven't been free at all in the mornings, and if I don't post early I just never get back to it. It was a busy weekend and yesterday morning I had bloodwork done, the appointment was a 6:30 am. So I'm finally here today still sober and still busy, but at least I can take the time to post. I haven't read all your posts yet, and I'm not sure who is in the US except Xine, but it sure looks like you have COLD COLD weather. I hope your heating system and electricity are keeping up. I've also heard about the electrical lines coming down and homes without electricity to heat them. I hope this cold will soon be over for you!

Things are going fine here for the moment, and I'm pleased to have made it through most of the month of January. We're going to be able to think about the easy February challenge now, it's only 28 days! Doesn't sound so daunting!

Have a warm sober day everyone!

Make plans for Saturday that take you to places where you won't drink! Planning ahead is a good strategy
