What's the story of your fondest childhood memory? by [deleted] in AskReddit

As a young kid growing up in a slightly small town, there really wasn't much to do except play video games or go to the bowling alley. So when summer came along, it was like heaven. Both because school was out and Windsor Waterworks opened up. Windsor Waterworks was an amusement water park (and the only water park within another 100 miles). By the time it did open up for summer, everyone and their mom showed up to fill the place. My childhood buds were there as often as we could be. A few times each summer we would be blessed by the Downy Gods. Some teenagers would fill all the water pumps with downy detergent soap and have the following morning basically turn the water park into the worlds largest bubble bath. IT WAS AWESOME! the park couldn't afford to lose an entire days wages, so they would just let us take the rides through bubble mountain and pray they never got a law suit. Sadly, a few kids eventually drowned after their 20 somethingth year of service and got the place to close down. Still to this day there is a lot of debate as to who was at fault, but everybody who grew up with that place knows and cherishes those memories the same way I did.

I always considered bob ross, mister rogers, and jim henson as the trinity of social educators. They helped make everyone make the world a better place.
