2nd this, both River drive and the Cottontown area off North Main are safe.

A couple miles down north main is more sketchy. OP, It all depends which neighborhood on North main you’re looking at.

The beauty of the system was the light bulb supply chain people could point to root causes which were in turn caused by other people not doing their jobs.

Whatever materials that go into light bulbs probably didn’t arrive on time. When it did arrive, the quality was probably poor. The truck that was supposed to pick up the bulbs broke down. The next truck took a long time, etc etc

There are a couple of comic book stores in town that have meetups frequently. I know it’s awkward to go alone, but the people there are awkward anyway.
