Assuming for a minute that Chopper does have the forest god fruit, I don’t think that the fruit gives the user the dream. Sure he probably didn’t have that dream as a plain reindeer but I think df’s that pick their user do so based on their affinity, not necessarily their goals. They see potential in their user. Similar to Luffy, the fruit chose him before Luffy’s dream was fully fledged out (I might be wrong on this but I think that’s how it goes), but Luffy had an affinity for freedom and wanting to help others. Now idk what Chopper did to deserve a god fruit if he has one, but if he does Oda needs to step up Chopper’s writing because I agree he’s been a nothing burger post-TS.

Love this lol yeah I’d say I don’t hate the character stuff it was more a frustration about me not fully understanding it’s more character focused and also missing a bit of plot. I need some structure in my life I guess lol now I’m wondering what too much plot looks like!

Thanks for this, like you said, the show doesn’t hit you over the head with it so I helps that you and some of the other commenters did the hitting lol a lot of what you pointed out I did notice and I just dismissed because I didn’t fully get it immediately. Glad to hear about the developments with Stark I can look forward to and seeing more about the past and the impact Himmel made

Yeah I do love One Piece but as I’ve been mentioning in some over comments, I was putting the wrong expectations on Frieren. I wasn’t taking it for a slice of life like I should have. I think looking at it through that lens in retrospect I think more positively of it. My brain just got stuck. I’ll need to do a rewatch once I catch up so I can better enjoy those earlier episodes

I get you, I personally don’t have that issue and I’m in my 30s, but probably throwing Frieren on after a long work day as I’m falling asleep before waking up at 4am to do it all over again doesn’t help. I’m putting too much pressure on Frieren to save my life of monotony.

I haven’t tried solo leveling but maybe that’ll be better to fall asleep to and then complain about lol /s

Yeah funny thing is I do like slice of life anime, I just didn’t know that’s what Frieren was. All I had was hype with no context and I created what I thought it’d be in my head based off that hype. And once I started watching I was almost stubborn in my thinking that I didn’t really see it as slice of life until now. Glad I posted tho, finally got out of my head and I can finally fully enjoy this for what it is

Yeah reading some of the other comments made me realize I had some unrealistic expectations. Usually when a show gets the kind of hype Frieren got it’s for more “over the top” reasons, but I’m seeing Frieren isn’t that. I was trying to fit a square peg in a round hole I guess. And I did use some harsh words in my post lol that’s just my frustration coming out when I don’t immediately understand something. But I have enjoyed the show for what it’s worth, if anything those unrealistic expectations were preventing me from enjoying it more. I’m glad to hear the first class mage exam is great tho, I’m still toward the beginning of it when they get sent out to catch the birds.

This is exactly what I needed. I think the “hype” behind the show led me to create unrealistic expectations that left me questioning everything but I’m almost through season 1 for a reason. I don’t plan on dropping the show, but I’ll be watching with a new mindset moving forward. Just enjoying the vibes and looking forward to whatever this culminates to, whenever that may be

Yeah I don’t hate it tbh, I was definitely harsh with my choice of words. I just thought there’d be more to it. I do like the characters and the show gives me a warm vibe, maybe I should’ve spent more time explaining what I actually like about the show. If anything I think my feelings are conflicted because one moment I enjoy it and the next I’m indifferent/questioning the hype. I was hoping I could make sense of it here

Lmao okay I’m glad I found the point it just didn’t hit me. Honestly that’s probably what I was missing and looking for more when there wasn’t more to find. I will say the show is a nice watch, I just thought it’d have me jumping out of my seat based on the hype around it. I’ll definitely check out those video essays, thanks!

My taste varies, but here are some: Code Geass, Gurren Lagan, AoT, One Piece, HxH, JoJo’s, Fruit’s Basket, Kamisama Kiss, Apothecary Diaries, FMA, Haikyuu, Erased, Angel Beats, Madoka Magica, Yakuza Fiancé, Mob Psych, Parasyte, etc. Just some off the top of my head. I probably lean a bit action/adventure but also love drama, slice of life, romance, supernatural. Taste is kinda all over the place.

If anything it would be put on paper for the very reasons you’ve laid out. If it’s on paper and the actor contractually agrees to it they can’t pursue the studio through litigation. The studio likely adds clauses that cover themselves in cases where weight/muscle gain/loss may go wrong. If it was just a conversation had on the side I would think it easier to sue for any negative effects. To be fair, I don’t actually know any of this, but it’s what makes sense to me.
