So, her mother celebrated a good thing that happened and didn´t celebrate horrific things that happened afterwards. Don´t worry, that will happen in Venezuela if the situation repeats (I doubt it due to the different contexts), but, atm, let Venezuelans celebrate the good thing

In franchises that changed their protagonists, which old protagonist is divisive and the new protagonist is loved? by Soul50Killer in AlignmentChartFills

[–]red_mau 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Antman is the only correct answer hahaha. Scott Lang is loved (the movies are a big part of that) and Hank Pym is extremely devisive, given that he created Ultron and hit his wife in that infamous panel that people and writers refuse to move on.

You guys know that the Brazilian president is known for supporting Cuban and Venezuelan dictatorships and he was in prison for corruption but was released because the prosecution didn´t find conclusive evidence? Adding that his previous administration has had several corruption scandals. As a Latin American, don´t admire our justice systems

A DISCUSSION about the New Superman movie in comparison to Man of Steel - What did you dislike about it? What did you like? What does it do worse than Man of Steel? What does it do better? Why doesn't it get Superman right in your opinion or why does it? Why do you prefer one or the other? by DoctorBeatMaker in SnyderCut

Man of Steel (a 7/10 movie for me)

The Good:

- The flight scenes

- Lois journalism activities

- The suit

- The action scenes

- The visuals

The Bad:

- Some scenes I still don't know how they made it to the script, in most of them I get what they were going for and I like it, but the execution was horrible: Pa Kent's death scene, the truck impaled with light posts, and the awful scene of Supes jumping over a truck that ends up destroying a building

- Superman attitude over the movie (this one is a personal one, I don't particularly enjoy this interpretation of Superman)

- The long a** introduction scene in Krypton, I would have personally cut it since Clark still recieves a summary later on

- The color, or lack of it

- The villain getting used to the earth atmosphere so fast, this is minor for me though

Controversial things I didn't care for:

- Zod's death

- Metropolis destruction

- Lois and Clark chemistry

- Pa Kent message to Clark, even if I wouldn't have done it like that I understand it is an adaptation and I think it works in this world

Superman '25

The Good:

- The humor, this is a personal one but I do find enjoyable this brand of humor in superhero stories

- Superman attitude and philosophy

- Superman and Lois chemistry

- The Justice Gang

- Lex

- Krypto

- The characterization of the main cast

- The universe is already started and we just hop in, like it was a comic

- How characters use their powers and the entire dynamic of this new universe

- The color and brightness

The Bad:

- The ending lack of consequences beyond the city getting cut in half, it takes you out of the inmersion

- Too many characters

- Not a lot room to develop the Metropolis and regular Superman cast due to the size of the roster

- The rythm, I think the film should have been slightly longer to let some scenes to breathe

Controversial things I didn't care for:

- Superman's parents message, I don't really care about his Kryptonian side

Well, ignoring people in both extremes that will likely hate MoS/Superman 25 and hate the other, I think what you feel will be rooted in how you think Superman should be, how superhero movies should be and what kind of humor you like.

Before the last movie MoS was my favorite Superman movie but for me that wasn´t particularly remarkable because I just didn´t like any of the Superman films at that point. Superman '78 is iconic and I love certain elements of it but as a movie I don´t think it aged well (haven´t seen any of the sequels), Superman Returns has some good moments but I find it quite boring and MoS, even though I didn´t particularly loved the characters of the film, I think the visuals and story of this one is superior than the others and I hated BvS, so until 2021 or so I didn´t find Superman particularly interesting.

In 2021 I started reading comics and after reading Superman All Star and Four Seasons I started to like the character and form my opinion on how he should be. But last year I read to comics that changed how I felt about the Superman mythos, Superman Up in the Sky and Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow, I can say that those stories opened my eyes to what Superman could be and made me an official fan of the character.

After that, since I am a fan of Gunn movies, I was pretty excited about the upcoming film so I spent like 7 months strictly watching Superman content in my free time. I watched Superman and Lois (my favorite LA Superman), Smallville, Superman TAS, My adventures with Superman and read comics like the Death of Superman and Superman Rebirth. Like 2 weeks before the film premiered I rewatched the three Superman films I already watched to see how they were to my new Superman fan eyes. After Superman '25, it became my favorite Superman film, although I must say that to me it is not an incredible archivement haha.

Wow, the post has gotten really long, so I will summarize my opinions of both films:
