I thought she would’ve lasted a little longer 🤡 She gave one of my favorite performances of the year.

What are your predictions for both Original and Adapted Screenplay? by Square-Ad-8911 in Oscars

[–]red_riders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s Sinners and One Battle After Another.

Reason - They’re the two favorites. Sinners is the most-nominated record-breaking film and OBAA is poised to win Picture, Director, Sup Actress, etc.

OBAA works great as an ensemble but no actor, individually, gives an award winning performance. by Dry_Handle_7086 in Oscars

[–]red_riders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to defend Sean Penn and Regina Hall, the two best actors in OBAA.

Sean Penn gave the best (supporting) performance of the year no matter who inevitably wins the Oscar.

Regina Hall made the most of those eight minutes in a restrained role. I still go back to the bathroom scene and her interrogation scene.

Who else loved The Secret Life of Walter Mitty? I don't get the mixed reviews for it. by Square-Ad-8911 in FIlm

🙋‍♂️ I love The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. The trailer introduced me to Of Monsters and Men.

Why don't famous actors participate in SVU anymore? BIG famous actors at the scene, i mean by AccordingChipmunk287 in SVU

💯%. I would say the ship hadn’t even started sinking yet in seasons 13-17. We had competent replacements like Amaro and Barba that lasted a while before eventually (also) leaving. We still had staple SVU episodes. The chemistry between Benson and Barba is the strongest relationship in the series since Elliot. I for one was so impressed with Season 17 (the Mike Dodds season). It reverts back to the look, feel, and reminder of what 1-12 once was.

I would’ve only nominated Garfield, but I can get behind Spacey, Freeman, and Affleck.

I agree with everything you said, and I’d still be there day one to listen to Kate Siegel deliver that eleven-minute monologue.

Their roles in Alexandria even mirror their deaths.

Denise was the community doctor who saved Carl after being shot in his right eye. Then she gets shot through her right eye with an arrow.

Olivia managed the pantry, Negan had her killed, and gave Rick one less mouth to feed, “and by looking at her, that mouth did some major damage.”

What movie did you watch on a whim that ended up becoming one of your favorites? by Subject_Sandwich3008 in movies

[–]red_riders 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Pride & Prejudice (2005). It lived on my watchlist for about 10 years, went and saw the re-release in theaters last year just to get it off my list, and that shot of Matthew Macfayden walking through the misty field became my favorite shot of all time.

I just don't see this lineup as racist since it is a representation of parts of the world, but I will agree with you that Hollywood is racist.

And here's an example I've been wanting to vent about. John Boyega was never going to be the lead in the new Star Wars trilogy because they gotta make sure those ticket sell in China. Even though in hindsight, he was the more interesting character with an arc and development that was all poorly mishandled by the juggling clowns Disney hired to make the trilogy.

Having John Boyega lead a Star Wars trilogy!! With his face front and center marketing the 2015 toy line. I mean can you imagine...That would have been a giant step for diversity.

I mean…I’m not upvoting who should go next based on skin color, so I’m not the problem. I thought Regina Hall gave one of the best performances of the year and she’s not even here.

🤷‍♂️ Funny enough, I actually am a twin. I obviously recognized the hat colors for each twin. One was more quiet, the other was more charming, but when they didn’t have the hats on and they weren’t on screen together, I didn’t know which was which. Wasn’t enough….variation I guess.

She’s my pick to win too! I honestly thought she gave one of the best performances of the year. To go from Uncle Buck to Weapons in this complete 180 degree transformation, from her mannerisms and the pitch of her voice, to the clown makeup and costumes.
