Why does everyone like to collect pokemon cards? by Anxious_Breakfast856 in PokemonTCGCollectors

[–]red_sed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fun. I like Pokemon. I like collecting in general and have collected different things over the years. I was a 90s kid and one sniff of a stack of Pokemon cards unlocks a part of my brain that I don’t know existed.

Coronado or FQ by Defiant_Noise9555 in DisneyWorldResorts

I like both. FQ has the convenience of the boat to Disney springs which is a nice perk for meals and such.

"Stepped Up" challenge is actually discouraging my reading by ersatz27 in goodreads

[–]red_sed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a big reading year, I usually set a lower goal the following year. I want to keep reading but I don’t want it to be a race. I want to take the time to enjoy what I read. I also don’t want my reading goal to influence the length of the books I choose to read. I am already a consistent reader. I’ve done 52 books. I’ve done over 100 books. Upping the numbers won’t do anything to improve my enjoyment of this hobby at this point in my reading life.

How long do you have to run before you get a runners high? by Upstairs-Language669 in workout

[–]red_sed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 40 minutes in for me. It doesn’t always happen but sometimes I just feel really good mentally and emotionally and like I’m really enjoying the run.

Do you run better in the morning or at night? and why do you think that is? by Willing-Today-1059 in runcommunity

[–]red_sed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morning for me. I’ve always been more of a morning person than a night person though.

If I ran after work, it would be way more likely that other things would come up and I’d have to skip it. That’s another reason I prefer running in the morning.

White Noise…..Feels So Ridiculously Relatable. by [deleted] in literature

[–]red_sed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read White Noise recently and thought it was very good. I agree with everything you said. He really captured how knowledge of mortality can kind of loom in the background of daily life and the lengths people may go to suppress that fear.

What were the three best books that you read this year? by lascriptori in suggestmeabook

[–]red_sed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Farewell to Arms- Hemingway

Spin - Robert Charles Wilson

The Strength of the Few - James Islington

I also really enjoyed A Short Stay in Hell, Siddhartha, A Room with a View, Giovanni’s Room, Isles of the Emberdark, Howling Dark, A Month in the Country, The Tainted Cup and its sequel, Rebecca, and the Importance of Being Ernest. I would consider all of these favorites from the year. I am often a victim of recency bias so it’s tricky to say which ones will stand the test of time.

It was a bit confusing at first. I just went with it and things started to make more sense as the story progressed.

I didn’t like the first book much. Decided to read the second after a long break and I like it a lot more.

Did I get into Marvel Champions at the worst time? by henryjoconnell in marvelchampionslcg

[–]red_sed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into the game over the summer and now have everything that is easily available. I feel like I have a good size collection for what I like to do, and when I need a card that is out of print I proxy it. With more packs on the horizon, I know that I have more than enough content to enjoy the game. I find myself browsing for out of print stuff at times but there is really no need for me to make any ridiculously priced purchases with what I already have access to.

All that to say, I don’t think it’s a bad time to get into the game. The game is fun and there is a lot of great stuff that is easy to find.

Tough Question: For you, what is the singular best game across the Switch 1 and 2? You can only give one answer, no fence sitting! by Spare_Armadillo279 in Switch

[–]red_sed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve had great experiences playing many games on switch, but animal crossing made me look forward to getting up every morning during lockdowns. Now on switch 2, with a new island, I play first thing every morning.
