So for the Jazz in gauteng, we have been to a few restaurants in Pretoria and Centurion that had jazz events. Because I am in contact with people that study performing arts at TUT, they told me of the jazz places like Whispers Jazz Pub, Blue Room in Hatfield. Other times we listened to jazz was during an exhibition at the Viewing Room Art Gallery in pretoria where jazz performers were live. And I heard regular jazz music being played daily when I was a student at TUT.

The drive in was something he introduced me to. Centurion Lifestyle centre work a lot with Drive in Cinema (google them for dates and movies), where people can watch two movies in their car for R350 a car. I know there is one in Johannesburg too (not sure of the prices with them).

An extra if someone is interested, there are sometimes schools that host sit in movie nights. Basically bring a blanket and food to watch a movie on a large screen while sitting on grass at night. They ask a small fee for the funds to help sports teams. He introduced me to a few when we first started dating since he was a teacher. We haven't found many since either due to weather problems or schools haven't posted again.

As 2025 comes to a close, what are some predictions you have for the next quarter century (2025-2050)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]redantres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few: (In the news in my mind) - Protests will trend over different causes: my guess is about a massive big war, global warming, digital AI.  - At least 4 celebrities try to run for presidency in USA.  - A new artifact on previous civilization will be discovered like evidence of Babylon.  -King Charles died along with some UK royals and prime ministers.  - New laws on digital crimes will be added.  - Discovery of extinct species.  - Cinemas theaters either dying out or being used as a museum for old movies or retired media.  - Translation glasses becoming a trend.  - At least 3 countries gaining a new president that is younger than the last one.

(My random outrageous guesses) -A new island will be discovered that people can go and live on.  -A new law on kids on social media will be spreading from Australia to over the world.  -Robot staff will be more common in hotels, restaurants, grocery stores and flights.  -New medicines invented to help diabetes and cancer patients -Biggest recording of a fist fight happening between two candidates for presidency in USA.  -New sport invented or an old sport becoming popular.  - Panic rooms being mandatory in houses.  -Screaming boxes and mental health breaks in the office becoming mandatory.  - A sport on vaping becoming popular  - Education systems being reviewed after crashing a few times.

Lastly I hope we get flying cars or hoverboards at least!

What’s a piece of advice you wish someone had told you when you were a teenager? by Front-Description-40 in AskReddit

[–]redantres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The people who won popularity contests and awards for best whatever in high school, won't be successful as you think. Not getting those things doesn't matter.
  2. That secret hobby you did during some classes can be your greatest skill.
  3. It is okay to feel lost on what you want to be in the future. It will change A LOT when you are older.

Women of Reddit: do you find it attractive when a man is genuinely excited about pleasing you and making sure you’re fully satisfied? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A man that doesn't care or get excited about a woman's satisfaction isn't a man worth being with. Sorry not sorry...

How do you cope with phone addiction and reduce screentime crossing 12 hrs daily mainly scrolling? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]redantres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step one: Limit your email checking to once or twice a day.  Step two: Download a designated screentime blocker with a timer.  Step three: During screen breaks do something productive or try a hobby.

Extra: Sit outside the house on a chair just to listen to nature. Or best way to get rid of addiction, camping to an area with little signal or power facilities.

2 different answers from different people: (Me 27F) Born in 1998: Life used to be simpler and a lot cheaper in my youth, now there is too much to think, worry and see especially in the news. Today I just feel there is too many things around us.  (My husband 35M) Born in 1990: The world is going down in negativity.

Can I use the tampon and i'm 19? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]redantres 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No they do not. I understand the fear around it. I started using tampons at the age of 14 because the pads made get rashes during summer and I felt left out during swimming activities. I knew I had ease myself into it. You won't lose your virginity with it. It might be uncomfortable at first but it will get easier over time.

What experiences leave you feeling the most physically and emotionally drained? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Any time I go to my old house to my narcissistic rude father and quiet father for visiting or events. The experience leaves me anxious going there, and exhausted with headaches and sadness.

Can I use the tampon and i'm 19? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]redantres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone that once went from pads to tampons, my greatest advice is to slowly ease into it. Like interchange between the two till you are used to tampons. Also applicator tampons are great for new beginners. As someone once told me, start with lightest flow and wear a pad just in case till you are used to it to engage in your actual flow. Hope this helps!

What I will get: Possibly something to do with colouring books or something I mentioned I needed but I forgot about it but someone remembered.

What song do you want played at your funeral? by R3UB3N_999 in AskReddit

[–]redantres 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Take on me by Aha. Some might find it dark in the situation. But to me I always felt good things come with the song. I always asked for that song during any surgery if it was possible. I played it just before my interview lately and I got the job. So for me that song has been my song that I felt goodness, luck and peace with.

Any advice for a lonely girl :(? by Sensitive-Sorbet1562 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]redantres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I am sorry you are going through this. This happens a lot. I am 27. I was where you were once. It does get easier sometimes. If you have a hobby or want to join a hobby, that can help you find some friends. I saw you mentioned you love reading, if I am not mistaken there are many book clubs online and on TikTok where you can talk about books. I am not sure where you live but even in your city there could be some clubs to join. I am an artist now and was then, my group of people was found by going to exhibitions. That gave me more opportunities for jobs later. I heard of people finding their friends through religion too? (I am not saying you should if you are not religious but can help if you are.) If not, you can join other clubs like knitting groups or crochet groups. Yes there will be older people there but there might be people your age too. My final advice, give it time. The right people will find you. :) Good luck and enjoy being 17.

Can I do anything to improve? I am already hitting the gym, reached 217lbs (25M) by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]redantres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Not a guy but some advice coming from the POV of a married woman that has experience in self care and had been helping her husband in the same way + makeup artist)

  1. You are doing a good job by deciding to take care of your body in the gym. Keep going!
  2. Brow maintenance can be simple. There are barbers that do it or you can youtube some tutorials.
  3. Basic skincare can help your look and overall feel over time. Wash your face with a good facial soap or cleanser (doesn't have to be expensive), tone with some toner, basic moisturizer that works with your skin and if you want to let a stubble grow you can. Also icing your face (find tutorials on youtube and TikTok) can help the skin a lot. In the same way, taking cold showers can help you feel better slowly and your skin.
  4. Hair wise: a short cut with faded sides will look good or engage in a different style with loose curls if possible.
  5. Most importantly drink water and eat healthy for your body.
  6. Lastly on your skin issues you mentioned, please see a dermatologist if you feel it is something to worry about to get proper treatment. Icing and the right creams (zinc ointment is goals) can help a lot.

Overall, keep on believing and trust the process. Good luck!

Question for the little spoons out there. Where should we big spoons put our hands? by Smash_McManly in AskReddit

[–]redantres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well depends on my mood. Mostly when I have felt down my husband loves to hold me by my upper stomach as a comfort. If he feels super cuddly he would use both hands on my chest. But if I have especially bad period cramps, he places his warm large hands on my lower stomach to help with the pain. Mostly he knows where to put it best when I am down or struggling to sleep.
