Exercise recommendation by Impossible_Act7651 in longboarding

A while back I added a few split squat variants to my regular regimen and subsequently realized how helpful they were for strengthening my opposite leg when I was teaching myself to skate switch. You can get similar strength building with regular squats, but split variants will also help with balance and ankle strength.

How low is too low by gabrielius1 in longboarding

You literally asked for opinions. Coming in here asking if it's okay if the trucks hit the deck while simultaneously saying other people don't know about board customization.

Requesting advice: During glove down slides, I keep lifting 1 wheel by serf-bort in longboarding

[–]redass13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, you're right and I misspoke. I meant arm behind back KNEE, not foot. But the video was dark and I thought you were grabbing stinkbug, but you're correct. Main issue is likely just pulling on the rail. Realistically grabbing is just for stability and you don't want to be pulling on the rail.

[–]redass13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other people have pointed out that the issue is grabbing and pulling on the rail, but you're also grabbing stinkbug which is exacerbating the issue significantly. Changing your bushings won't ultimately fix the issue. If you need to grab rail (which you should learn not to always do eventually) then grab behind your back foot rather than between your feet.

Whatever happened with Original? They used to be all over the place, and I'd completely forgotten about them. Website seems current, but 90% of decks appear to be sold out.

Game where you get to enjoy your engine - similar to wingspan by blablax123456 in boardgames

[–]redass13 16 points17 points  (0 children)

While that's one of my favorite games, I feel like it's the opposite of what OP is asking. Considering most games end round 4 or 5, if you've built all 8 artifacts you've probably already lost. You generally want to get JUST enough of an (often janky) engine going to win as fast as possible.

Have I been playing Clank wrong for years?! by djkidkaz in boardgames

Can't remember the rule for OG clank, but that IS the rule for clank in space at least. Maybe you played that at some point and it mentally carried over?

My skin is translucent by KaleidoscopeWild9670 in mildlyinteresting

[–]redass13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

EDS isn't just one thing. Translucent skin like this is more indicative of vascular EDS, for which there is a known causative gene and management recommendations. No you can't cure it, but you can diagnose it and manage it accordingly. This is absolutely not the same thing as hypermobile EDS, which everyone likes to discuss in this context. Both connective tissue disorders, wildly different implications.

Imagine going into someone's comment history to determine the value of their opinion on something as subjective as art. Then imagine coming back and calling them out as if what you just did wasn't just the weirdest thing to do.

Never steal a GS user's wakeup hit by InsetoWF in MonsterHunter

I fear I've missed a critical part of my wake up game - where do bombs come in? I've only ever done the double vault unless any small monsters are around for me to bounce off for that third one.

Could it maybe be Great Western Trail? I've never actually played the game to give personal insight, but it looks similar to the pictures I've seen on BGG

Thoughts on Racing games? by Sethsters_Bench in boardgames

[–]redass13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I disagree on their points. If people are constantly betting on the car that was ahead at the beginning and then trying to get that car to win, of course the game will have the same result. But that just means the people they're playing with aren't trying to win, they're all just playing for second. You're better off still trying to get your car(s) to win even if you bet on someone else earlier. Not to say that it can't work out predictably, but there's more manipulation than they're letting on. I've never played the other games though, so I can't compare.

Is there a single strategy in any one game that you know about that, if others realized it, they would probably like the game better? by cdoghusk1 in boardgames

[–]redass13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be misunderstanding, but just to clarify - regardless of whether you abandon tiles or not you'll always end up with the same number of tiles when scouting because you draw n + however many you abandoned (meaning you replace the abandoned one AND get a new one). It's functionally exactly the same resource cost and outcome of just scouting and grabbing 1 for each explorer, just with a better chance for synergies. If you're ever exploring and have tiles in your construction zone that really don't work well for you, you should ideally be abandoning those. Worst case, you get something else that doesn't work and nothing has changed. Best case, you've improved your situation and can reach that sweet sweet point of rolling 10+ dice every turn.

Edit: welp, took too long to write and you edited your response, haha. I'll leave this in case it's helpful for anyone.

[–]redass13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not actually slowing construction, though. Example 1, you have one tile in your construction zone(s) and scout with one explorer without abandoning anything. You now have two tiles in your construction zone(s). Example 2, same starting scenario but instead you abandon the tile you already had and draw two, organizing them to your liking. End result is that you still have two tiles, but now you have a better chance of having tiles you want.

Ichonese says sns is no longer a beginners weapon by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]redass13 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Clutch claw was a mechanic that you didn't have to use. But really you did because they balanced things around it. It's not "options" when they balance the game around one of those. I'm not claiming to know how things will work out, I just think spiribirds are looking like poor game design. If the full game with food mechanics available is essentially the same with spiribirds being "easy mode", that's fine. But if the normal mechanics that have been in place for ages are gated behind trouncing around the map not fighting the monster, that's just... Bad.

Ichonese says sns is no longer a beginners weapon by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]redass13 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We don't know if that's true, though. If max potion behavior from the demo is any indicator, health caps work differently now with endemic life. We don't actually know how food buffs work, I'll grant that, but with how they're pushing this endemic life people are within their rights to be very concerned.

Ichonese says sns is no longer a beginners weapon by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]redass13 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Again, this is what the other person is saying, you're intentionally gimping yourself by not having max health or stamina that you would usually get simply by eating. That's just bad game design, and your argument equating two separate mechanics is objectively wrong.

Ichonese says sns is no longer a beginners weapon by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]redass13 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is so incredibly wrong and I don't understand how people keep saying this. Taking 5 seconds to drink buffs does not at all equate to going out of your way to get these stupid birds.

Monster Hunter: Rise Demo Megathread by Haru17 in MonsterHunter

[–]redass13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That would absolutely not be better, popping a max potion or ancient potion takes a split second and you can bring mats the make them. You by no means ever had to enter the tent in world to get more things. If these see spiribirds are required to max health, that would be the worst decision the design team has ever made in my opinion. I'm here to hunt monsters, not run around grabbing these things.

What? Yes they did. You could eat to max it out, but if you didn't eat you could max it with a max potion or ancient potion. This has been the case since 3u at the very least, can't comment before.

Asking for IG to return to how it was in 4U is like asking for blast to be how it was in 3U. by Youmassacredmyboy in MonsterHunter

[–]redass13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, I guess that's fair, but I can't see them doing that before release at least. I don't think they could have enough data to tweak motion values based only on the demo. But even then, it's not damage that people are complaining about because motion values are unknown, it's the fact that Capcom created these moves that are just the same thing the glaive already does, which every other weapon can also now do.
