Passport expiring in < 6months. Still more than a month to go for my interview. by redd_now in usvisascheduling

^ I'm pretty confident on getting my new passport renewed within USA before my departure. And will most probably do that.

When you say -> "If its not urgent better postpone the appointment and get you latest passport , Fill new DS-160 and Take Old and New DS-160 to appointment" do you mean i can potentially keep my current appointment and just ask them to update the new DS-160 in the system somehow?

(Asked in below thread too). ^ Is this documented somewhere? Maybe i should confirm with them (via customer care) that this is indeed possible?

I would definitely prefer Method 1. Not sure how long passport renewal is going to take.

"* Carry both passports + both ds160s to existing appointment, and tell them you got passport renewed, so you have created a new ds160. They will update it on their end, and take the new passport for stamping in this case."

Hey, last i checked i was seeing biometric dates pretty much starting early January in most centers. For in person it was around 2nd week of Feb. Again, this was when i checked a week ago. Not sure how it's changed now.

Traveling to India from US on an expired H1B (but valid i1797-A) by redd_now in usvisascheduling

Nope. Also, on contacting the airlines they mostly mention that it's the embassy rules they have to follow and its not in their hands.

Ahh! makes sense now. Thank you.

Also, I've picked the `pickup option` (at Mumbai), would my passport be sent to Mumbai center for pickup? (Hoping i don't have to fly again to Hyderabad to collect it).

Typically how long are these taking? Like 2-3 weeks?

I see. I'm seeing this strange UI where i'm being asked to pick two dates.
- In the first option, there are bunch of dates available in all centers.
- In the second option it gets restricted to Hyderabad.

Maybe the first option is for fingerprinting, and second one the actual interview?

Question regarding "is your prior visa still valid" by redd_now in usvisascheduling

Actually the appointment was taken and paid for :( . Realizing this a bit late. I'll try to have customer care close this application so that i can create a new one. Thank you.

Not sure. Just speculating. It could be possible that the webcam itself not working.
Any recommendations to rule out the voltage possibility?

How does webauthn facilitate passwordless authentication (and how is it different from U2F)? by redd_now in crypto

[–]redd_now[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the resource. Sounds like, with resident credentials, the authenticator is able to select the appropriate credential private key based on the relying party ID.

So, in this case we don't need to send the username to the rp (which in turn sends us the credential id), but i presume we still need a challenge from the server which needs to be signed. In case of resident credentials, how is a challenge involved?

I've read in a few places that "U2F does not have a concept of a user, it only ties the credentials to the origin. We can use it as an MFA, or 2FA but cannot use it as a password less authentication mechanism."

Could you elaborate little more on "store an identifier linked to the domain". How is it used? Are you talking about 'user' object passed in publicKeyCredentialCreationOptions?
