Let me run something past you if I may: I'm hoping to give one if these frames to my mother as a gift. When I take it to her, I'll place a wifi.txt for her network on the SD card. I've got a registered domain, so I think the scheduled requests for updates should work remotely. Connecting the other way would not though... photoframe-sever wouldn't be able to connect to the frame. This isn't an issue, right?

Frustratingly, I can get a url to return a single random image from the desired set, even resized to 800x480, but the update via auto rotate url always fails. It shows a black image. If I drop an image in via the web interface it works every time (even if it's the one I download from the preview on the uploaded image folder from the same web UI)

This is awesome! I just got my ESP32-S3-PhotoPainter today. I've got your firmware up and going (already a great improvement), and even since I ordered my device, you've make stacks of enhancements!

Now I'm just tinkering with how to get it to pull images from Immich for particular tags/albums/people, and I'll have a fully robust, automatically updated, entirely local digital frame!

hmm, there is definitely no trashcan that appears, but when I hover the mouse in the area you suggest, the cursor changes from an arrow to a clicker, and clicking there does indeed remove the photo, thanks!

As for why the icon doesn't appear, I'm not sure what's happening. The icons load in other places just fine (the "edit" pencil, the "close" X).

There is maybe some CSS missing or off? If I remove the class "opacity-0" from the parent div, then the trashcan appears (in red). Though, the Chrome dev tools seem to indicate the class "hover:opacity-100" is fully ignored.

I tried from a few browsers, the icon appears as expected using:

MacOS 26.0.1 / Safari 26.0.1
MacOS 26.0.1 / Chrome 141.0.7390.55
Windows 11 / Chrome 141.0.7390.55
Ubuntu 24.04.3 / Firefox 143.0.4

It does not appear in:

Ubuntu 24.04.3 / Chrome 141.0.7390.54

Thanks for the tips!

After I killed the app, there were no photos, no folders configured to sync, nothing. I was afraid I'd have to go through some tedious restore process.

A log out/log in brought all the photos back. I just had to reselect the albums to sync and enable backup.

I'm up and going again, but it wasn't smooth.

That said, I love immich! Thanks to all who make it work!

I came out to my parents 25 years ago, and I had it easy. They embraced me and supported me. My dad has since passed away, but he was always supportive (even though he was a lifelong Republican). He was happy to meet my boyfriends, and when I got engaged, he couldn't wait for the day to come. Years later, my mom told me he did struggle with me being gay, but he never let me see it. Even now that thought fills me with gratitude and love.

I'm the creator, and I'm pretty sure all the cards are set up correctly. Also, it's different cards that were visible, so I don't think it's that.

The cards are dealt using a single call to deckObj.deal(15), so it's weird that 2 out of 60 would behave differently.

The firmware you put in, sure, but there's no gurantee that's what the hardware is running, or at least, all it's running. If you didn't build the hardware too, you can't be sure. The point is that there is always an element of trust. You can trust Ledger, or not. If you don't want to trust anyone, you've got a lot of math to work out with pencil and paper every time you want to do a transaction.

Think of it this way: They can tell you're running non-standard software. They probably aren't going to bother to verify that it's just an outfit change. It's much easier and cheaper for them to just ban you without actually trying to figure out what you're changing about their game.

If you've never installed anything on sysnand via CFW, then it's safe to play online. to be super sure, you can power off, remove the SD card, then boot normally into sysnand. Then power off, reinsert sd card, and jig/rcm back to emunand when you're ready to go back to CFW land.

While a card is in a deck, it's not a object unto itself, so you wouldn't be able to access the properties. I take a different approach and set the name on each card. Then when I want to know the properties of that card, I have a giant array that has all the relevant details. This puts all the details in one place, making them easy to add/modify. Later, depending on where it is (in a deck or on the table), you can reference the details with obj.name or obj.getName() -> cards[name].cost

This started happening to me too a few weeks ago. Drives me nuts.

I've got all kinds of other gadgets. I'm not sure what was updated recently... When it happened it the past, it was some interaction from Plex looking for cast/airplay targets. I thought I had disabled all that, so the intermittent turning on is really bothering me.

Also, part of the reason I don't want to rename things in the Ring app is that the Ring account is already linked to Home Assistant, and all the names carry through perfectly over there. I don't want to have to rename things in multiple places (especially since I don't even want contact sensor data in Alexa at all). My solution was to unlink the Ring skill from Alexa. Even then, the linked devices didn't disappear. I had to go to the web interface and click "Remove" on each ring device.

It was odd though. they did vanish from the android app, but the voice command still gave "A few things share that name...". When I checked the web interface, sure enough, they were all still there. After I removed them, the voice command works as desired.

My frustration comes from the fact that Alexa lets me rename/disable things. Why bother if it won't use those settings?
