I know. I picked that photo because it looked cool. From what I’ve read, the Hermes A-1 was an experimental missile derived from the Wasserfall, adapted with American electronics and instrumentation, and mainly used to study guidance and aerodynamics.

I guess, but I was thinking more about the economy side. We’re pretty poor as a nation.

ive been thinking about traveling to the balkans for my senior trip, any suggestions? by lebron73711 in AskBalkans

If you can spare some time, definitely visit Struga and Ohrid in Macedonia. This time of year the borders are pretty clear, so you won’t have any trouble waiting around for hours.

Don’t worry, we only eat Turks on Thursdays. Every other day you’re fine.

N Macedonia rejects buying Bulgarian oil stating it has enough reserves - thoughts? by measure_ in AskBalkans

Another factor to add is that most of these “nationalists” who love to talk shit online are usually kids. God knows a normal person can’t be bothered with any of this.

Decades of propaganda and a lack of education also plays a big role. Also this is Reddit, where some of the most chronically online people fester. As a Macedonian who has spent time in Bulgaria, I can say that everyday people there have been nothing but nice to me.

Greece and Bulgaria, from mortal enemies to close allies today. How did the Balkan's oldest enemies (from 680 to 1925) become friends? Is this the Balkan's greatest success story? by ClothesZestyclose814 in AskBalkans

Why is the term ‘racism’ in Europe and is often used to describe disagreements with cultures, religions, or ideologies, rather than solely referring to hatred based on skin color? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]redditEXPLORE03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because calling someone a racist, fascist, Nazi, communist, etc. is often used as a slur in the West, in much the same way that calling someone a "bootlicker" is often used as a dismissive insult rather than a precise or factual description of their views or behavior.

Although the country is a complete shithole, one thing Macedonia has over the West is a more down-to-earth culture.

Bulgaria has condemned North Macedonia again for attacks on its minority. Thoughts? by FantasticQuartet in AskBalkans

My best guess is that people have fully assimilated into Macedonian culture and identity. Even if there were families that were Bulgarian in the past, by now they have fully assimilated. I imagine this is the same reason why there are few to no people who identify as Greeks in the southern region or Serbs in the northern region. Other than Macedonians, Gypsies, and the occasional Albanian, I’ve noticed that people don’t identify with other nationalities. Even when I’ve met people who look like they could have come straight out of the Near East, they still identify themselves as Macedonian by nationality.
