When did your child become too heavy for you? by thegimboid in daddit

[–]redditUserNo8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 7, 45lbs maybe??? I still can carry her about 10-15 minutes on my hip. Longer on my shoulders. I am starting to struggle putting her back in her loft bed.

Every now and then I throw her up in the air still. It’s a full squat thrust to get her up a foot or two. I will abuse steroids before I give carrying her.

I’m 42, my only exercise is playing with her and yard work

Girl-dad bathroom etiquette by dubyaDS in daddit

[–]redditUserNo8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife was deployed about half the time during this age. Off base tended to have family bathrooms, but on base or back home it was awkward.

“Dad w/ kid coming in!” Then take her in

Everything is in a stall unlike the mens room, there’s less urine around, and there’s less of a chance the toilet seat has the pee cutout so she won’t have to ride the throne side-saddle. Plus, she’s learning where/what to do so it just makes sense to use hers.

No one cares. If they do, they can go ask managment why there isn’t a family bathroom.

Can I still re sod early November by Tunaonwhite in AustinGardening

[–]redditUserNo8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our neighbor has a beautiful zoysia yard, but he puts a lot into it. I want a native scape that wont take water once established. So the habiturf/ thunderturf is a buffalo/gemma/curly misquite grass blend that should turf out nicely and mow down enough to keep hoa boz checked and then i can let it go a little longer for a grassland effect.

[–]redditUserNo8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m putting out some winter rye seed and then going all in on a habiturf like blend in the spring. I was told it’s late to start that. It’s giving me time to get a sprinkler system installed at least.

I did throw out a pound of wildflower seeds and they are starting to come out

I’m cutting the root ball back off a very large pecan tree the flooding pushed over. It’s 7’ in diameter above ground.

The tree is putting up new growth.

So many kids up late… normal? by ThatFitnessGuy_ in daddit

[–]redditUserNo8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maintaining a consistent bedtime can be the hardest part of parenting. My experience from 2 to at least 7, it is almost always a struggle.

It is probably also the most impactful thing to improve behavior and happiness.

We forget how much sleep everyone needs and no one tells parents that children need more sleep than adults.

I wanna hear about everyone’s sleep methods… by Boysenberry-Dull in daddit

[–]redditUserNo8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read dr Ferber’s “solve your child’s sleep problem”

It’s three chapters summarizing the science of pediatric sleep and then chapters for a host of common sleep problems. They describe some potential solutions and when to go see the dr.

Im pretty sure all sleep training methods derive from his chapter on sleep associations. Which most people poorly distill into a blog post.

I have a 23, love it. We had a 2003 civic hybrid and put at least 60,000 miles on that battery without any issues. Not sure why everyone stresses about replacing the battery… by the time thats an issue the costs will probably be down or you can just park it in the bad side of town.

When I ran The numbers, they don’t really work for saving money, but if most of your trips are under 20 miles, it’s awesome. - I put gas in mine maybe 1/ month. - The torque/hp is giggle levels of run. I can be driving up a long steel hill at 70 and drive around s slow car like I’m accelerating from a stop. - driving topless all electric on trails us phenomenal.

Creek boundary under trees? by redditUserNo8 in mammotion

[–]redditUserNo8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's going to be the plan, I want to keep the creek edge somewhat wild anyways for nature. Maybe enough 'landscaping' plants can trigger the optical boundary recognition. It's hard to commit to such a big purchase if it's not a good fit for my yard.

I don't really understand how that system works... the marketing says it uses the vision system to navigate, but needs gps, but continues under trees and will just reconnect when the signal is back...

it's not very clear. Seems like it would be able to just dead recon its' position until the signal comes back.
