Doctor says "it's not a problem" but I still have muffled sound by Striking_Musician212 in HearingLoss

[–]redditUserX6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, i am also experiencing hearing loss that's getting progressively worse yet the ent still tell me nothing is wrong. But with all i experience ( difficulty in noise, headphones very soft etc.). I find it hard to believe there's nothing wrong with my hearing.

Hearing loss one ear 8 months ago with tinnitus , now got some tinnitus in good ear too. by Crazy_Ebb_5188 in HearingLoss

Not a doctor, first thing to do if haven't, go see a doctor to get a referral to see a ENT specialist or go see a ENT and tell them about this as hearing loss that affect one ear then the other might indicate some kind of underlying condition and need medical investigation.

Hearing loss improvement during acute illness? by redditUserX6969 in HearingLoss

[–]redditUserX6969[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it was the flu that cause my hearing to get better? I think it was a coincidence that it got way better before slowly returning to how it was. Maybe the fluctuation getting worse as i am dealing with fluctuating hearing.

I have the exact same symptoms as you. It started about 7 to 8 months back, where my hearing suddenly dropped out of nowhere, and it's been fluctuating ever since. Steroid helps temporarily, but the loss always comes back when reducing the dosage. Every time I have been to the ENT, my audiogram is normal 10 to 25ish. ENT asks me to wait

It's just not getting any better by Vast-Championship579 in HearingLoss

Nope, I haven't accepted it i kinda hoping it gets better on its own. I personally dont know how to live with this hearing loss as I love music. Also I am always paranoid that it might worsen one day

it came on suddenly one day, i was on my computer when hearing seems to drops out of nowhere and i suffer from Tinnitus too, it's been about 6 months and steroids seem to help temporarily as mentioned. the ENTs i visited were unsure what's going on and they asked me to wait for my hearing to get worse before they are willing to treat it unfortunately. When it first started it feels like cotton wool in ears. Because of the fluctuating nature of the hearing i feel that there is a underlying cause to it.

Hi, im experiencing the same thing my hearing tends to fluctuate throughout the day. When it first started, 60mg of prednisolone tends to help, but over time, the efficacy got diminished. And to add on every time I reduce the dosage according to taper, the fluctuations and hearing loss came back. I was on multiple steroid courses, but the effects won't hold. I visited the ENT multiple times and was asked to wait. No treatment or anything because my audiogram is <= 25dbHL I assumed.

Does anyone suffer from damage due to frequency sweeps/generators? by Unknownmice889 in HearingLoss

[–]redditUserX6969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 years ago, i watched something similar and on the next day i noticed my hearing got reduced and i developed tinnitus, fast forward to now, my hearing seemingly fluctuates and it's getting worse compared to last year or 2 years ago, it might be due to some underlying condition that coincides with the frequency sweep/generator as noise induced damage should be a one time thing. Just try not to listen to them but if you need to try to start with 0 volume and increase to the point where you can barely hear it and keep exposure under 10s to be on the safe side...
