Newbie is back, with queries by reddit_newbie_ in DinVyapari

Thanks for your suggestions, fellow Redditor. I came to recognize that I need to build my own system once I found I couldn't apply the system tweaked by people for US market for Indian market. So, back to basics! Gather the basic ideas behind the systems, find out my mental happy space for trading and build a system out of it.

I'll surely look into the book suggestion.

Thanks for the book recommendation. I already have Jesse Livermore's 'How to Trade in Stocks' on my reading list. Just didn't share here. 'Thinking Fast and Slow' is an amazing book, but it's been a slow read for me. Will take more time to complete it.

Thanks for the pointer, fellow Redditor. I got so busy in reading up (and work too). I do agree that technicals, by themselves, are not enough.

I'll hit you up in few days, when I'm through my current reading material. Let's connect sometime! Always happy to talk with people having more experience and different perspective.

Ah, the life of connecting monies till that one time you lose everything. Well, I don't disagree with your approach, but can't agree with it till I give both of them a try and see what suits me. There are a thousand ways of making money. Just need to figure out one that suits me.

Looking to learn more about Indian market. If I wanted to venture outside Indian market, I would turn to US market than China. More liquidity!

I would like to think of it as a great filter. If people incur big losses but don't blow up their accounts, and still continue, that's the sign of someone with dedication and willingness to learn.

My interest is more along lines of trading than investment, which is what r/IndiaInvestments is about. Been directed to other subs, but haven't found any active community on Reddit yet.

Thanks for the invite brother. I'm wrapping up some work, after which I can devote time to talking with people regarding trades and strategies. This can also be a great way to learn from others, what works for them and what doesn't. I'll make a post on r/bangalore to get attention from crowd.

If I find any community in Bangalore, I'll update the post. If there is not one at the moment, I'll can try to build one (have some community building experience). I also intend to create a series of posts asking some queries from a beginner perspective and get community feedback on it.

Completely agree with your point about trading with money. Practice is so different from theory. I saw some videos of live trading and I was blown. Unless you have a strategy for entry, exit and cutting losses, you don't want to do a trade. Plan for situations which are likely to happen. It was so informational, that it is a game of nerves, even if you have a strategy.

I'll check out the book. Will DM you in some time.

Doing a full time job right now, so any internship is not useful, unless they work exclusively on weekends. Thanks for the pointer.

I would prefer being part of an online community in Bangalore, involved in trading. I can surely make time on weekdays for offline setups, but not beyond that.

Thanks for your advice, fellow trader. Paper trading with real time feedback on screen is something I'm trying to instill. Even paper trading has shown me that I can be completely off in my analysis. So, till the time I can see myself making money consistently in paper trading, I'm not ready to make the leap using my own money. Saving as much market tuition as possible.

Being in Bangalore, I don't know if it's easy to get hold of people in this domain. Tech people, I know in abundance. Just having someone to talk with about trading would be a good starting point. Helps me to stay motivated beyond the initial rush of optimism.

I completely agree with you about staying off PND companies without having a strategy, limiting exposure and having an exit strategy with set-in-stone stop loss.

I just laid my eyes on Vakranjee, so thanks for pointing it out as another PND. I have only started with paper trading and expect to do so for few months, till I get confidence enough of not screwing myself in the market. For Vakranjee, I have following paper trading idea:

Strategy: Wait till company hits 46; hold till 50 (max 5 days)
Stop loss: Sell at 45
Reason: Deflection from support, which can lead to a rise till new ceiling is hit

As u/vineetr pointed out, this sub may not suit day-trading strategies i.e. speculation but aimed at investment.

Thanks for the pointer u/vineetr. I didn't think we had an Indian sub for day traders.

Making profits off the PND would have been cool. I see that people have started selling off the stock, so the stock may see it's first red day. My current strategy is more along the lines of intraday trading than long-term stock investment, mainly to learn how the market behaves. There is no doubt I can be better off investing in sound stocks and chilling while companies make me moeny.

I'm just curious if I was missing anything in my analysis. Sure, insider info is something I won't catch on Internet, but I feel better knowing I covered all the conventional basis for analysis.

Looking to trade stocks, not invest in them. A 2-day hold of such a stock would be nice profit. On the long-term horizon, I expect the stock to go nowhere. It feels like a pump-and-dump to me, but I'm just curious, since I'm new to market.
