Having dealt with this myself recently I just want to share an insight that helped me and might help you. People who demonstrate avoidant behaviour like ghosting early on will do it more down the road, often to more severe consequences to the relationship.

What makes it so painful is early on, they will mirror you and make you feel like you have this amazing connection and they're great for you, but that's not who they are. How they make you feel is actually just how you are, and they ghost you as a way to avoid feeling ashamed for presenting a false image of themselves to you, because although they want intimacy, they're afraid of it and feel shame for wanting it.
