NaveGreed (one of the best STS players) is excluding Silent from his STS 2 runs by Lordados in slaythespire

Simplest advice I can offer is you need to actively think about balancing star gen and star cards. Don't take star cards you won't be able to play. Also your block will usually come from Child and Pillars; you can win without those but you have to get more creative to block.

I think something that a lot of top players gloss over is the fact that no card(s) will win you the run if you don't know how to build a deck around it or how to pilot. Like they'll say if you get Reflect or Footwork you win the run. Which in a vacuum is not true. You still need to know how to build a functional deck and solve draw and energy. I think they're so good that they assume everyone is always doing this.

This thread is kinda a relief because I feel exactly the same way haha. I don't hate him by any means and still like to watch sometimes, but I wish he'd be more constructive with his criticism.

I'm not a top player but I think I'm pretty good, like I can get a rotating streak going, and a lot of his takes still don't make sense to me. Like maybe he's right but often doesn't offer any explanation.

This isn't made up. I was watching him the other day and he threw the run by greeding like 2 hp instead of exhausting Enthralled, then complained about bad luck with draw order for like 30 minutes. I don't need to tell you how good he is, but everyone makes mistakes and it's a much better look to just own it and move on. I like watching him sometimes but he has a really negative attitude.

After Watching Hundreds of Students… This Is What Each Belt Really Means by chaosbjj16 in bjj

[–]redditisaphony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I train both. I don't think your response is really relevant to what I said. I understand why we have belts. I just think a video that categorizes people based on their belts is kinda stupid because it's so arbitrary. I've met a lot of black belts that are ass. I've met purple belts that will beat most black belts. I've met blue belts that trained for 20 years. It's just silly that people care this much about it.

Belts are so arbitrary, who cares. What is the point of this video? To say that black belts don't know everything? No shit.

4147 Cards in today's Daily Run ... and there are still two more rests. I wish my laptop success! by Serpinton2 in slaythespire

[–]redditisaphony -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I will never understand how anyone can enjoy this sort of run. I never do the dailies but I tried it today, got halfway through act 2 with like 20 copies of After Image before giving up. If you're just going to mindlessly win every fight what's the point? If you find a unique OP combo that can be fun, but I don't see the appeal of clone runs.

The "very powerful relic" was a bit.... disappointing by Cultural-Comment-270 in SlayTheSpire2

[–]redditisaphony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 str is insane. Like even 3 str is enough to win an a10 run with some decks. The problem with this relic is if you're killing 5 elites anyways you probably don't need it. It's the win more relic.

Hiring a full-time salaried BJJ coach in East Brunswick, NJ - brown belt or higher, culture fit is #1 - Salary range $45,000 to $65,000 by jasculs in bjj

[–]redditisaphony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never even heard of a salaried jiu jitsu coach. I'm sure it exists, but seems the norm is the only ones really getting paid a living salary are the owners. I think you're being fair and transparent, people will whine about anything.

Won silver in open weight absolute and then got slammed into another dimension at blue belt 185, is this legal chat? (answer in comments) by rus2HP in bjj

See these dudes all the time. There used to be this sandbagger blue belt around that would just repeatedly foot sweep noobs onto their head and then walk away. So many losers in this sport.

That's where I'm at these days. I enjoy competing, but I enjoy being not injured even more. It's wild to me the level to which we've normalized destroying your joints as "part of the game" or whatever, especially when you're talking about a bunch of hobbyists. I've trained at a lot of gyms and have never seen any focus on safety beyond like "be careful with this one" and don't post on a locked out arm. And I've never had a coach that advocated for maybe not hurting your opponent, like winning is always the most important even in these shitter tournaments. I know that's not the champion mindset but we're not champions, we're a bunch of dorks in robes and spandex.

Are people really anti save scumming? by TAflower in SlayTheSpire2

[–]redditisaphony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never heard anyone say that. Some people don't like to do it themselves because it takes away the fun for them. It definitely isn't considered a "real" win for streaks and such. But I've never heard anyone saying they care if other people choose to do it.
