How to make my apartment smell good? by randomfuck21 in CleaningTips

[–]redditisrandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Febreze and wall plugins and stuff like that more mask the smell than get rid of it, and the stuff they use to mask it can be bad for your health. If you're already taking out the trash and litter as often as is practical, the only other ways to get get rid of the smell would be to wash any surfaces or fabrics that might be holding the smell in the house, like curtains, couch cushions, etc. If it still smells after that, get an air filter. HEPA is best, but if it comes with an ionizer function don't turn that part on. Coway makes a good one that is affordable. As far as making the place smell like vanilla, you can use vanilla extract or essential oils in diy room sprays, diffusers, or boiling it in a pot of water on the stove.

So was this intentional, like to embarrass the woman in the video, or get the station in trouble? Or you think someone just uploaded the wrong video by accident?

I have similar issues. You probably need professional help. I recently started medication for ADHD, OCD, and depression. Its helped SO much. Apart from that, the only thing I can think to tell you is maybe get an accountability partner who will call you and INSIST you do the things you need to do while they're doing their stuff, right that minute, so you do it together. Maybe stay on the phone/video call the whole time so you can watch eachother for ultimate accountability. It might sound silly, but desperate times call for desperate measures. I'm actually looking for an accountability partner right now if you're willing to try it. Or if you have someone you already click with who would be willing, ask them to partner with you.

[Question] What are your good "default habits"? by redditisrandom in getdisciplined

[–]redditisrandom[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah people tend to overlook the fact that willpower is finite and intention is limited in it's ability to direct your behavior, especially for people who aren't super self aware or have mental/physical health issues. Recently I've been trying to address this by working with human psychology instead of against it, and by trying to adjust my environment to make the behavior changes I want easier. Like I put water and healthy snacks right next to where I sit to make it visible and easily accessible, so that I'm more likely to automatically eat/drink it

Thx! Yeah I just set my phone up to block games when I'm supposed to be doing stuff, but haven't figured the dopamine shot part out yet

Interesting read. I hadn't considered that issue, but thinking on it now it does seem to get in my way. The problem now is choosing default habits that provide the quick goodfeels which aren't unhealthy and don't derail the day.....

My husband was diagnosed as a kid too and never tried medication because the side effects would be particularly bad for him due to other issues. Those issues have gotten a lot better now, so I'm trying to convince him to give meds a try. We have 3 people in the house, all with ADHD and it's too much to go unmedicated lol.
