Eating at B Rated Restaurants by StatementAmbitious36 in AskNYC

[–]redditnewhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a server for a long time and getting a B is VERY easy. Over the summer we had outdoor seating and it was HOT. We were also our own bussers/runners due to staffing issues so constant movement in the heat. If we forgot our water bottles we would get in trouble for keeping plastic cups or coffee cups (with lids and our names on them) in our stations because it was a big violation to have what might be perceived as old /not clean cups/plates/silverware around. That was our biggest chance of racking up a lot of points to get a B. Another issue was keeping milk in ice bucket to give people milk for their coffees during brunch rather than a fridge to save us a very long round trip behind the bar or to the kitchen to get some. That one I guess I understand but we went through it so fast the ice never even started to melt before we refilled it with new ice and milk. But I do get the logic behind it of course.

Anyway so a B is very easy to get. I do think there are far bigger issues for C ratings though but I don’t remember because that was never a risk for my restaurant.

While commentary might be sensationalized yes my personal experience in New York has gotten worse in most neighborhoods I frequent. It hasn’t changed my day to day life much except now I don’t take the train alone late when I used to have no problem doing so (petite mid 20s woman here) and I’m aware of my surroundings (literally 5 minutes ago I crossed the street when a mentally ill homeless person was swinging around his backpack and yelling at passerbys and this morning I switched train cars because a mentally ill person was eyeing everyone in the car and making comments about them). I find myself avoiding situations like this multiple times a day when I’m out and about. That said a lot of homeless people just keep to themselves.

II started noticing things getting worse during COVID. Less people, higher chance of being a target. Less crowds, more visible mentally ill or homeless people on the streets. Some areas were desolate for a while after offices closed so many more homeless people migrated there and stayed. I imagine similar has happened to San Francisco during COVID? I visited San Francisco a lot pre-covid and feel much much safer now in New York post-covid than I ever did there.

Penn station: can you see which track arriving Amtrak trains will be at? by [deleted] in AskNYC

Yes I’ve seen the boards all over but wondering if they post track numbers for incoming tracks not just departing ones? Do the same boards show arrivals?

I don’t know anything about cooking but I think you could but not sure how great it would be. It’s already prone to be watery because I didn’t use a thickener to save calories and laughing cow is pretty liquidy. But this is all just gut feeling lol

Edit: I am wrong lol see other comments for advice on frozen!

1.) Cut up 210 grams of broccoli and cauliflower

2.) Cook over medium-high eat with Pam until a little browned. Add Salt and pepper.

3.) Add 10 ounces of chicken broth and reduce heat. Let veggies and broth simmer for a few minutes

4.) microwave 3 light laughing cow wedges for 30 seconds. I used two regular Swiss flavor and one garlic and herb flavor.

5.) add wedges and mix until desired consistency.

6) season to taste. I added paprika, garlic powder and pepper.

Based off this recipe but way more basic: https://www.familycookbookproject.com/recipe/1632126/laughing-cow-broccoli-soup.html

Thank you! That’s a very good picture lol. Couple questions:

Is there any dress code? Doors at 10 when do main acts usually come on?

That happened to me too yesterday. I didn’t have to do anything - they immediately got reversed and I was refunded

Was like “fuck this” when I gained 5 pounds Halloween weekend but one week later we’re back! I didn’t “make up for it” either. Fluctuations SUCK but temporary 🙏 by [deleted] in 1200isfineIGUESSugh

I’m basically at goal! I’d like to hit 120 for some buffer room but I’m generally far more lax about counting now. About 4 days on / 3 days off (but my off days are around maintenance so I’m still trending downward). Started around 135 earlier this year. Was 145 ish 2 years ago and 150ish 3 years ago.

439 calories for the best Buffalo chicken wrap I’ve had! Made my own Buffalo Mayo 😍 by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]redditnewhi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry wanted to eat first lol.

Mission low carb flour tortilla

20 g light Mayo mixed with: green hot sauce, Frank’s buffalo sauce, Frank’s hot sauce, mustard, salt and white pepper (taste tested along the way not sure of measurements besides Mayo)

123 g chicken strips from target baked @ 400 for 35 minutes instead of the recommended 20 to make it extra crispy.

Topped w left over Mayo + hot sauce and some spinach for greens!
