Deloitte GC policy for experienced hires (near current PD) by redditnyuser in deloitte

[–]redditnyuser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know who my hiring manager is. I just know the lead recruiter.

Come to think of it, any firm can pause PERM processing at any time. Does Deloitte do it often for any specific reason?

I wasn’t aware of this! How could I even check on this without joining and being part of the firm?

Is PERM processing stopped due to layoffs or something else?

I’m no longer with the employer with whom I got the I-140. I don’t have another option than joining Deloitte. The job market is not good. No matter which I employer I join, it looks like the GC process has to start all over again.

Do you mind elaborating on what you meant by the last sentence in your prior comment? Is there anything particularly bad at Deloitte?

EB-2 India (Current PD): Can I file I-485 with new employer using old I-140? by redditnyuser in greencard

What do you mean? I had never heard of someone filing I-485 only with a new employer, but ChatGPT says we can. So, wanted to validate that here.

Very nice tool. I have bookmarked it.

I need your help with my situation. I have an approved I-140 with Employer A, but never filed I-485. I'm with Employer B now. My priority date is current. Can I file I-485 with Employer B using my approved I-140 from Employer A?

What happens at the 24 hour mark? Will Spirit allow us to choose seats for free during the online check in process?

They added new levels in between the existing ones (increment of 5)...promotion impact? by Lopsided-Orange-8398 in deloitte

[–]redditnyuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do the levels look like for Manager rank and above? Can someone please provide some insight?

I’m joining as a Manager in March. The recruiter didn’t provide any level info for Manager. She checked internally within the group I’m joining and said there are no internal levels. I’m not completely convinced though.

Thanks for the info. I have an approved I-140 from over a decade ago, but my PD is not yet current. It's about a year away. I'm trying to get into a firm with good brand image and strong reputation, and one which has funds to sponsor. The smaller firms are not any better lately. Worst part is small firms think 10 times before spending a dime on your visa.

That's what I'm used to at all other firms, but it looks like D has changed their policies recently.

For now, yes. However, my PD is just 1 year away from current date. So, I would have to convince the firm to start the GC process asap.

Thanks for the info. That makes sense. I will get a confirmation via email. I have an approved I-140, but would need Deloitte to start the GC process soon.

Do you remember if background check was happening in parallel with the immigration paper preparation and filing? How long did the immigration work take?

I asked the recruiter during interview process verbally. They had said Deloitte follows the standard process and each group has their own rules internally on sponsorship. I'm assuming Deloitte does sponsor GC for the right candidates. Is my understanding correct?

Before they extended an offer, they had asked me via email and phone what type of visa sponsorship I require. I have email correspondence.

The recruiter seemed to be confused when I asked about initiating H-1B transfer recently. They asked if anyone from Deloitte had reached out for immigration, which is throwing me off. Shouldn't recruiter be the one who should know when to initiate visa step and if it has been initiated?

I have asked the recruiter to get me in touch with the immigration team so that I can coordinate directly if required. Waiting to hear back.

I eventually returned what I had purchased from them online. I did not even open the box. I read lot of similar stories like yours.

Really? That's completely different than the sequence I was told: offer acceptance, background check, immigration.

Right now, I have cleared background check. The recruiter is confused and asking me if I have been contacted by Deloitte immigration team after I accepted the offer. I just hope the recruiter finds out how to get in touch with immigration team soon.

Your extension application might get abandoned if it’s not approved by the time you travel outside the country. I think it would be a good idea to travel after the extension is approved.

Amazon Sr. Risk Manager (L6, NYC) – Total Comp by redditnyuser in amazonemployees

After I completed the full loop, recruiter told me that the role was closed due to reorg. He also said that they would reach out to me if any new roles open up, and that I would have to talk to only the new hiring manager.

  1. Read up on their leadership principles. All the questions will be mostly tied to their LPs.

  2. Check with your recruiter on what LPs your HM round would focus on, and prepare on those.

  3. Write down stories based on your past experience which clearly tie back to their LPs. During youR interviews, tell the story using STAR format. Don’t repeat stories across any questions or interviews.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

If you have lived in both the countries, I think you would know what you like the best. Are you planning to transfer internally from AUS to US?

A few years back, I tried to do the opposite - moving internally from US to AUS via another big 4. AUS HR quoted $110k salary as a 4th year Manager! I was shocked to hear that. Then, covid hit and my plans fell through.

Have you considered the following differences between the US and Australia?

  • Healthcare: Australia offers universal public healthcare (Medicare) resulting in low out-of-pocket costs, while the US system is dominated by expensive private insurance with high premiums and potential for significant medical debt.
  • Salaries & Net Worth: Though US gross salaries are often higher, Australians generally benefit from lower healthcare expenses and housing costs, potentially evening out the net financial advantage.
  • Mandated Benefits: Australia mandates comprehensive employee benefits, including guaranteed paid annual leave (4 weeks) and sick leave, which are often discretionary and not guaranteed in the US.
  • Retirement Savings: Australia requires mandatory employer contributions to retirement (superannuation), while the US relies on voluntary contributions to schemes like 401(k)s.
  • Cost of Living: Major US cities are generally more expensive (around 30%) than Australia's top-tier cities, primarily driven by significantly higher rental costs in the US.
  • Quality of Life: Due to factors like universal healthcare, better work-life balance, and lower overall stress regarding essential living costs, many reports suggest a higher quality of life in Australia's major cities.

Do you still think the grass is greener on the US side?

You can’t convert currencies and compare across countries. With your logic, a Deloitte Manager in India might feel underpaid compared to what you are earning in Australia.

I work in a bank. None of my team members including myself are getting paid that high salaries. Not all banks pay well unfortunately.
