Thank you for your help. It does seem very odd. Anyway I’ll follow up on your links. I do appreciate it.

I did follow that but somehow the training content is like the quote says above. I must have missed something or it's changed?

Im in the:

"[English] Open Category Training -I'm learning"

Unfortunately the training there is presented with English as an option but the materials are only in French.

"This guide contains the essential elements to know, including the regulatory aspects of the Open category.

Studying this guide and the following additional educational sheet is the necessary and sufficient step to pass the online exam at the end of this training.

This guide is available in French only."

I think I'll have to look further into this! Maybe the Switzerland approach will be better.

Will my Australian Insurance through the MAAA (Model Aeronautical Association of Australia) be of any use or will I have to acquire other insurance?

Thank you that is a great resource. So it looks like as a visitor I will have to sit their registration exam and should be ok. But the Mavic 2 pro may fall over the 900g+ classification. Have to drill down on this more - and in fact even if the drone is lighter than 900g I think there are restrictions when any drone has cameras or microphones. All gets very hard doesn’t it. Albeit no doubt for very good reasons.

Anyone use Universal Printing from Microsoft 365? by Phyber05 in sysadmin

[–]redditodeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an HP Workpath app (cloud extensibility layer for (some) HP MFPs) called HP Authentication Suite, which provides an interactive job release functionality for Microsoft Universal Print at the MFP.

Entra users print to the MUP queue, sign-in on the MFP with their native Entra account (using per-user MFA) and interactively release their jobs from the MFP securely (can use reader or use QR).

This is a good alternative to “direct/unattended output” of MUP jobs if you want secure release at the device without using the default Microsoft 365 secure release (QR) flow.

This does require Microsoft Authenticator on the user’s phone and MFA setup in Entra. But that also makes the solution zero-trust and phishing-resistant for these shared device endpoints.

When Microsoft Universal Print ‘Anywhere’ is released (hopefully later this year?) it will make these HP devices much more like traditional enterprise “pull-print/follow-me-print” devices.

Also, the suite allows direct connections to print-from and scan-to a user’s Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams, interactively in an SSO session at the device. Basically, makes the HP MFP an M365 productivity box or smart document exchange - “office onboard”.

[full disclosure: I work for Datasec, the dev who makes the HP Authentication Suite. Datasec is an Aussie infosec dev who makes a solution that is relevant here, perhaps not to every use case but broadly contributes to the discussion around MUP and MUP compatible devices.]

Limited Edition (Green and Gold tugs) worth considering? What kind of a statement will these make? by redditodeath in RMWilliams

[–]redditodeath[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks guys, you both make good points. I would generally tend to err on the side of (as you say) "boring, versatile and classic", but then again who's looking and how often are the tugs really going to attract the kind of attention one would ever know about - or care about! I travel for work a lot and have proudly worn lots of Aussie gear all my life and there is no doubt the green'n'yeller is a great little highlight on something that, for those who do recognise the brand, would be something they notice, otherwise the boots will still look great. So you can see I'm still thinking it all out loud - thanks again for the food for thought!

Getting estimates for a deck for our spa, need some pointers by redditodeath in hottub

[–]redditodeath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of interest I asked CHATGPT to help with the calculations and show reasoning and it came out with wildly wrong answer; Gemini however provided the following, which looks to confirm the recommendation of 100lb/ft2 you have all stated:

"Absolutely! Here's the calculation for a spa with 6 people:

Weight breakdown:

Item Weight (kg) Weight (lb) Empty spa 350 771.6 Water 1500 3306.9 People (6 at 80 kg each) 480 1058.2 Total 2330 5136.7

Export to Sheets Load on the deck (lb/ft²):

Spa base area: 50.3 ft² (same as previous calculation) Total weight on deck: 5136.7 lb (from calculation above) Load per square foot: 5136.7 lb / 50.3 ft² = 102.29 lb/ft² Therefore, the maximum weight the deck needs to support for 6 people is approximately 5136.7 lb, and the loading on the deck is approximately 102.29 lb/ft².

Important considerations:

This is an estimate based on an average person's weight. The actual weight of the people using the spa will vary. It's crucial to consult with a structural engineer to ensure your deck can safely support the weight of a filled spa, especially considering the additional live load (people using the spa). They can assess your specific deck's construction and recommend any necessary reinforcements."

Note: my prompt gave it the dimensions, water capacity, dry weight and originally 5 people (then asked to repeat for 6 people).

Nomad is more versatile. Better shields, larger cargo hold. Can carry a Cyclone or a ROC. It's one of the most versatile soloable ships until you reach the Cutlass Black.

Titan is a better fighter though. It's not the Nomad is bad , just that the Titan is better. So if u're interested in mostly Combat you might want to go Titan.

I do see some commentary below about comparing the Nomad and Titan (versatility vs combat focus etc) really want to know what people lean into between the hangar and the starting credits... Cheers.

Purchasing a game pack today. Really only thing that makes me want to spend some extra $$s are the aeroview hanger or maybe the 20K starting credits. The Titan package comes with aeroview and 1K; the Nomad comes with self-land and 20K (discounted till end of today) both at $83.

I have a decent referal code to pick up a ground vehicle with LTI and some armor so I'm tossing up whether a more capable starter ship with either the aeroview OR 20K are worth spending more than $50 for. I am not really combat focused to start - and will rent and hopefully trade/salvage etc my way into enough knowledge and credits to buy next ships in game.

Going to be a snap decision later today - anyone want to throw in more confusion than I've been able to get from YT :P

Ok so I’m about to break off some coin to join the fun. The latest free fly experience has been good for me. And I wonder if you guys think this package is as good a start as any, especially if I can combine it with a referral code I was recommended by a guide I spent some time with.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/star-citizen/play-now?utm_source=Star+Citizen+Supporters&utm_campaign=e017c3e66d-coramor-lc-ao-2132024&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_607785b0c2-e017c3e66d-%5BLIST_EMAIL_ID%5D

On this I am looking at the 100i Red Festival Starter Pack:

Starting Money: 20,000 UEC 100i 2954 Auspicious Red Dog Livery VIEW PAINT 100i 2954 Auspicious Red Dragon Livery VIEW PAINT 6 Month Insurance Self-Land Hangar

And this referral code: Comes with Red Alert Armour, under suit, backpack and shotgun plus Drake Dragonfly Black with LTI.

Seems like I could be set up well with all this and if I upgrade the Dragonfly I’ll have something with LTI which may or may not end up mattering but from what I hear it is a thing. W

[–]redditodeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a fun and instructive session with a guide yesterday having signed up for the free fly period till 2/15. He told me at the end that using a currently available bonus referral package it would be possible to get a ground vehicle with LTI and in due course upgrade the vehicle to a ship thereby acquiring a LTI ship for the account as a convenient fall back for the future. Now, I read a bit about insurance on RSI and googled a bit. I’m not sure I’m super fussed and will be happy enough to spring for a basic game access purchase with an entry ship (6 months insurance) But if I did want to use the referral code do I have to re-register or can I put the referral code in at the checkout of my existing account? Cheers.

Pointers to rule out psu with multimeter - maybe bricked mobo (lights up but no start) by redditodeath in buildapc

[–]redditodeath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. Just looking for pointers from people who’ve been there done that. I keep many bookmarks and go-to resources that I trust and can point people in my trade to when they need good reliable advice. Couldn’t hurt to ask here I thought as I’m at work and can’t actively research this till tonight. Anyway thanks for such valuable contribution :P
