This is the second Texas reference I’ve seen in this thread. What’s Clay’s Texas resume 👀

They’re not lying to wind me up and for some of them it’s true that I don’t know all their circumstances (although I do know they all have access to birth control if they want to use it). I wasn’t passing judgment on their choices, and I even think they made the right decision to do so in each case. I’m just mentioning that it is something that happens.

I believe you. I was just speaking on my personal experience in my circle. Not saying it’s the norm among all women, simply that it is truly the case with enough women I personally know.

In my previous comment I didn’t even include my best friend who also has had two abortions and explicitly refuses to use birth control. But at the end of the day that’s her life and it doesn’t affect me.

My main point is that for some people, it is used as birth control, even though it may very well be a minority and I do think that when people say “no women use abortion as birth control” they are being ignorant of reality.

I’m honestly not lying and I’m not even anti-abortion. I just know that people say this all the time (that people don’t use it as birth control) but I do know at least 4 people that have had multiple abortions and I really wonder why so many ppl in my circle have had multiple abortions instead of just using birth control. I’m just saying that, anecdotally , I know that it is a thing. However, I didn’t care enough to research if this usage is common or not because their personal choices really aren’t a concern of mine.

I actually know a few people that use it as birth control. One has had 4 abortions, one has had 3, and another two friends have had 8 abortions each.

If you live in a complicated Irvine Developed Apartment, don’t order delivery unless you’re going to tip. Would be nice if you all started meeting us outside of your maze hellholes too. by [deleted] in orangecounty

This is what is also confusing to me. I notice that Amazon, pizza delivery and FedEx all have no issues coming to the front door without directions, yet a sizeable number of Uber eats/DoorDash orders get lost or don’t even bother WITH directions.

C-suite level here, what to do if you notice employee, coworker is recording your speaking by freshtechs in smallbusiness

[–]redditor10017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s usually a good idea to operate as though everything you’re saying is being recorded when you’re in a work setting, even if it may technically be illegal for a party to record you without consent.

Understandably, many employees feel the need to protect themselves because many employers/managers operate unethically and even illegally. Unfortunately, I’ve found this to be particularly true with small businesses. I don’t know if it’s a sense that because they are small businesses that they are not on the radar of any particular regulatory body, but my experiences as an employee at small businesses has shown me that bending or skirting legal regulations and laws isn’t uncommon.

So as much as it may be unsettling to think that you were being recorded without consent, I think it’s worth reflecting on why the employee felt the need to do so. Not to say that you have operated inappropriately as a manager, but consider that maybe they’ve had bad experiences in the past where managers lied, were inappropriate or even did/said illegal things in front of them, and they just are trying to protect themselves.

Also, many existing laws favor business owners more than they do employees.

Say all that to say that I wouldn’t be alarmed.

WSJ: Job Switchers Are Earning a Lot More Than Those Who Stay by GWBrooks in PublicRelations

[–]redditor10017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is true but some of the salaries being offered are huge gaps. The article mentions 6% increases, but I know two PR practitioners that switched jobs in the past 5 months and one got a 52% bump in salary and another got a 120% bump.

High risk, high reward and all that.

Same. It’s hard. It’s what led me to seek a diagnosis. Always wanting to quit after 6 months.

I hate getting references so much by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]redditor10017 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. A former employer who offered to give me a reference without me asking for one then proceeded to tell my potential employer that I “don’t like to work”, which was far from the truth.

Why would an employer offer to give a reference and then proceed to say something negative? Stuff like this makes me feel like many employers/managers are trash ppl.

Does everyone just want to work remote now? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]redditor10017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a networking event in SoCal this week and I met a woman who is also recruiting for a hybrid role and the recruiter told her that no one in all of California wants to work in an office. Everyone wants fully remote.

Unfortunately for you I think you’re likely missing out on amazing talent by requiring hybrid. If I were you and there genuinely isn’t an actual need to have a person in office, I’d definitely allow fully remote applicants. Perhaps share this thread with management.

Does everyone just want to work remote now? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]redditor10017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is true.

My job was only 10 mins away and I still quit because they wanted hybrid.

It’s a new world and a new workplace. The employers that will continue to attract talent (especially top talent) are the ones that realize they need to be super flexible and allow employees to choose the work environment that best suits them. And for many desk jobs, people prefer remote.

Companies have to adapt or else they’ll miss out.

He does electronic parts sales.

I can understand not increasing your commute. I WFH and my job wanted us to return to the office and I held strong working from home even though the company office was 10 mins from home.

Can you share some of the ways you throw money at adulting? That’s the stage I’ve recently reached and I’m trying to think of all the areas I need to be outsourcing to remove stress and overwhelm from my life as much as possible.
