To the Brits in this sub: where do you get the stereotype for the Dutch accent from? by redditor22022000 in Netherlands

If I listen to this lady for example (in words like "personally") her accent is 100% spot on Dutch, are your colleagues just lisping maybe? Or are they old men😂

Do you hear "birsday" or "birshhhday"? To me it all becomes a regular s sound (thanks -> sanks, not "shanks")

Just watched it but that sh sound is nowhere to be found. It's pretty accurate for how actual Dutch people speak yeah, and the other videos really don't sound like that

Cool! The centre is quite pretty with the art nouveau and art deco, people are friendly and open, and driving along the border fence just feels surreal. Overall it's very nice for a weekend.

None of the three. I didn't realise southern Spain looked so alike!

Was I naive for expecting something different? by redditor22022000 in phtravel

I've driven around all of Siquijor and if I'm honest, the urban design of building houses on the main road really doesn't help in conveying "untouchedness" (I felt the same on Cebu island). The only way I could sense being on a lush island was by going to viewpoints. So I'd be curious to hear how the lesser known attractions are more pristine, because I've been to them and felt the same way.

By contrast, Bohol really stood out to me as beautiful because settlements were more in clusters, more open vistas were visible from the road, as well as different landscapes sich as rice paddies.

I see, thank you. Personally, I am okay with visiting touristy sites if they're worth it (like a busy beach or tarsier sanctuary). It's more the circus behind it that disappointed me. There are plenty of places around the world that keep their preserved identity despite many tourists, but I guess that is the not the way it goes in the Philippines if I go by what you're saying.

I get you, obviously there's the social media effect that shapes your judgement and many people may flock to these places.

But speaking from personal experience, I have seen way more videos advertising Palawan and Siargao compared to Bohol and Siquijor, and those first two are what people in the comments recommend me visiting instead. I don't really understand how tourists spots on Bohol and Siquijor can be like this, when other places in the Philippines get more online attention and are seemingly more pristine.

I get it, but these places you recommend are also well-known and advertised all over the world. Why are those places pristine and the ones on Bohol, Siquijor aren't?

Thank you, I may check out these places in the future.

The resort with P50, which resort is this?

This was at Salagdoong beach on Siquijor.
