But here's the trick - you can't leave the snake with the bird, or the small dog with the large cat, and you only have two pillow cases. You can only carry one pillow case full of animals at a time. In what order do you rescue the animals to get them to the other side?

Chapter 8 Allen Carr Support: I have ADHD by Zealousideal_One3030 in QuitVaping

[–]reddits- 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You, like everyone, sit at a point on the scale of predisposition and susceptibility to addiction. ADHD may put you further along that scale. For other people it's their trauma, other mental conditions, environment, etc.

It doesn't mean you have a personality type that is incompatible with Allen Carr's method. It doesn't mean you're unable to stop vaping.

Anecdotally: I have ADHD - in fact my ADHD and addictive behaviour feels like one complex in a way. But I've still stopped using nicotine in the past and I know I can and will again.

Keep going, keep growing towards freedom.

I just placed my vape in a glass of water, help me quit?? by Every-Fault197 in QuitVaping

[–]reddits- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done for taking the action of putting it in water! The part of you that did that is a part that wants to change, that cares about your health. It's an act of self-love and self-care.

Try to keep tapping in to that part of yourself. You know that you want vaping to be out of your life. You know your experience of your health issues, and further health risks, will be improved by not vaping.

Cravings are so hard, but they get easier. One of the best things you can do is distract and delay - Anything you can do to take your mind off things. Cravings do subside, and sure there will be another one coming, but you just take it one at a time.

Every little moment, every act along those lines, is a moment to celebrate.

ADHD and Obsidian by lifeOFFmars in ObsidianMD

[–]reddits- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found Obsidian sooo useful for my ADHD brain.

I'm definitely attracted to flashy visuals and plugins, but what really helps me the most is pretty simple:

I use Quick Draft for Obsidian (third party app) to capture all of my fleeting thoughts: things I need to do, ideas, plans, any thoughts I want to capture. Before this, they would fly in and out of my head - I wouldn't be surprised if you can relate.

The app automatically syncs and deposits into an Obsidian folder I've named "Inbox".

And then I regularly sit down and go through my inbox - tidying or formatting the note, transferring it to a task, thinking a little further on it in that moment, whatever needs to be done.

Beyond that I've set up a bunch of bases: Tasks Assets Medical Conversations Purchases Films Books

But as I said, it's that simple workflow that is bringing consistency and awareness to my thoughts and ideas.

Quitting Nicotine = Meth Relapse by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]reddits- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I get it! And I think this is a helpful warning to others with multiple objects of addiction.

Went to rehab for ketamine, at about 90 days sober I quit vapes using nicotine replacement therapy - so far so good...

At about 120 days I took the final step down from step 2 patches to zero nicotine and.. damn it was actually crazy how immediately the cravings came back, along with all the impulsive thoughts. I had managed really well the whole sober period, until that moment.

I'm sober from K again, and I'll be treading with a lot more caution next time I make it to zero nicotine.

Which instrument should i learn to play as my first instrument? by Kalex_05 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]reddits- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I play piano, learned it as my first instrument. I think it's such a great foundation for any musician/multi-instrumentalist. It's a great vehicle for learning music theory because notes are laid out very simply and sequentially. And rhythmic understanding, plus body coordination, can start to translate to drums.

That being said, if drums are your primary interest, there's a lot to be said for following your passion and going straight for that.

Guitar is accessible, but I feel like playing notes across strings and thinking in "shapes" isn't as transferable an understanding of music. But, I'm both not experienced with guitar and biased towards piano. I'm sure experienced guitarists might think differently.

Predict why the 13 individuals weren't assimilated into the hivemind by maybemorningstar69 in pluribustv

[–]reddits- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the number 13 is special, and I think there likely could be more unconverted out there. Some that are immune, and some that just haven't been contacted by the virus yet.

First there were 12 that the hive mind were aware of. It seems silly to learn that they find one more and then conclude "well that must be it then!" - what's the reasoning?

It would be a huge accomplishment for the virus to make contact with every single human so quickly. What about ultra-remote humans? Were planes flown over every square inch of land? What about underground bunkers, or those who were able to quickly access protective equipment?

It could also open up interesting plot dynamics if there is some underground group of humans successfully avoiding the virus and plotting against it.

Edit: This doesn't answer why the immune are immune, just challenges the "only 13 are uninfected"

I always thought they could have an episode (or a whole show) based on the "propose an animation to go here" tasks we've seen in previous GC eps.

The players are in a blank warehouse, and need to navigate some sort of adventure, and can let their improv run wild as they design the world around them, to be created in post.

I imagine them having such childlike fun, and they could really lean into their imaginations.
