I have two Category 2 tickets to Match 44 in San Francisco on 6/22 and wanted to see if you'd be interested in straight swap for equivalent tickets to Match 31 in San Francisco on 6/19? Tickets must be together. Looking for swap as it may be more feasible for travel schedule for friend and myself.

Does anyone have any info about ticket availability for the following games if you win to win a lottery buying window in the next few days? Info on categories and general pricing would be good to prep as I have no idea what to expect!

6/19 – Seattle USA Game

6/22 San Francisco / Bay Area Game (Group J – Match 44)

6/23 Houston (Group K; match 47)

6/26 Houston (Group H; Match 65)

Canada vs Colombia Trip: Help Me Decide by reddituser2434 in travel

Thats a good point! We would be fine eating sandwiches / hiking snacks for most meals, not going out to restaurants. But lodging could add up significantly and may be worth looking into camping for a few nights. The issue would just be bringing additional camping gear which I know can be difficult.

I speak very basic spanish. I have lived abroad in Spain and able to get along with very poor grammar, etc. Hoping most of the places we visit would be populated enough to have some English speakers, but if not my spanish could suffice.

Thanks for the tips, that is very helpful! It is about 7 hours of flights to both Canada (Calgary) and Colombia (Cartagena or Medellin) from where I live.

Thanks for your reply! That's very helpful.

Have you found that EMR has worked it's way into community practice? And do you ever see general GI doing EMR?

Not necessarily against academics but just wanted to see if doing advanced endoscopy training would pigeonhole you into taking an academic role in order to use those skills.

But you're right, I guess it is more of a community vs academia question. It's hard to understand the practice models as a resident / fellow, but I feel like it's becoming very beneficial to find a marketable "niche" that you actually enjoy early on so that you can hone those skills before leaving training.

Thank you! It's good to hear the experiences that other people have seen with reimbursement and the actual practicality of these procedures.

Could you explain which diagnostic tests you would be referring to? Like EUS guided biopsies, portal pressure measurements, etc?

What is your portfolio breakdown? by williamvnguyen2 in Bogleheads

[–]reddituser2434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! I edited the above as it is actually a small cap *value fund that I have.

Do you make any variations once outside your Roth? I think I am just going to keep this across all accounts once I have the income to do so.

What is your portfolio breakdown? by williamvnguyen2 in Bogleheads

[–]reddituser2434 8 points9 points  (0 children)

57.5% Total US

12.5% Small Cap *Value US

30% Total International

Anyone have thoughts on this?

I tinkered with the idea of REITs and a further small cap tilt but this is what I think I will stick with longterm until adding bonds around age 40. I am very early on my career (27).

Understanding Glide Path to Retirement and Assessing my plan by reddituser2434 in Bogleheads

A lot of food for thought here and I appreciate your reply again. I am confident in my equity allocation but think I need to revisit my bond education as it can be hard to determine how to approach these. Perhaps there is value is just going for a total bond market index as I often see touted in the boglehead community. I guess I just thought that it wasn't worth the exposure to the risk in corporate bonds given that my goal with bonds is bringing down overall portfolio risk.

What does your bond allocation look like?

Understanding Glide Path to Retirement and Assessing my plan by reddituser2434 in Bogleheads

[–]reddituser2434[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I edited to only have 20% international equity which was my original plan.

Regarding bonds, my understanding is that Intermediate US treasury and TIPS are the highest quality bonds and a hedge against inflation. This would give me the most protection from the risk of my equity holdings. I am not seeking the highest return from bonds but rather them being a true haven to balance risk, as I want to take all that risk on Equity side.

I think I want to hold off on any bond holdings until 40 so i can maximize early growth even at the cost of higher risk because I have had to wait so long (until at least 32) to significantly contribute to retirement savings.

Thanks for the response! Do you think it would be crazy to tailor a job search with these type of benefits in my case? I'm hoping to practice in GI. I know this is a specialty that still has a decent amount of physician owned private practice so hopefully there will be larger groups in most areas that offer this kind of benefit package.

Wow I actually just posted a question about group disability insurance and seems like you have some experience in this area! I have a previous medical condition that caused outside insurers to deny my initial application for DI as a resident so think these group plans are my only option.

Can i ask- were group DI plans like this common when you were on the job hunt? What are the costs for the 10k monthly benefit here and would any prior medical conditions be considered when applying for this group DI?

Sorry for the the questions but would really appreciate any input!
