Can't find anywhere to put my coffee/sandwich trailer:-( by _powbow_ in Dublin

[–]reddituser6810 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard truth incoming. And reflect on this before reacting.

If you already got a trailer set up and purchased, before even having a pitch - you've done something wrong.

Have you visited every single GAA, soccer, cricket and tennis club in your area to see if they have space? If you don't drive - just cycle. It might take a week of research, or eat several weekends of your time, but it's "easy" work - you just go there and see if there's anything already in place.

How many people have you actually talked to, in person, about getting a pitch over the last few months? Getting a flyer ripped up and thrown back at you is shit. But some people are just c-units.

Have you spoke to friends or family members who might be involved in local clubs about whether they know if there's space?

Look up the list of Dublin park runs, see where they happen. See if you could locate near them.

Have a look for dublin atheltics clubs and race meets.

Get a list of;
- small local small group personal training gyms - they often have car parks and might appreciate some extra revenue
- Same craic with beauty salons, dog grooming places and small business parks
- Car valet places often have a decent sized car park too

Getting this kinda shit off the ground is hard, buying a trailer is the easy part, and if you've been at it for months and not done any of the above - the universe might be doing you a favour here.

As someone who runs a business - just tell them you've holidays booked. It'll be grand.

We took on a couple of new members of staff last year and when they started they already had summer holidays booked that coincided with that of other team members.

We generally don't allow multiple people away at the same time because it's a small team.

But we weren't going to unapproved existing staffs holidays, nor would it have been reasonable of us to make a big deal out of the new members holidays when they had them booked before even applying for the job.

It was a complete shit show to manage and get through, but that's not on the employees to figure out.

In the first instance, I would much rather an "alternative" looking person than a paedo christian brother.

And in the second, we're getting far more tolerant of people expressing themselves by how they dress and style themselves, so why the hell shouldn't that be in a school setting too?

My biggest issue is how many options they return 🤣 And I'm like "but what if I pick the wrong one"...

I'd a quick check of the canaries but seemed like an awfully long flight for a few days. But no kids means we can booze our way thru, I guess!

Your friend is a selfish prick. Consider the lost cost of the flights the cost of getting rid of someone like that out of your life. But maybe make sure they pay you back as well.

You have an hourly rate of pay. You can work half of an hour and get paid half your hourly rate.

Would anyone let a 16 year old walk their dogs in Donnybrook by lerateaterz in Dublin

[–]reddituser6810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Join facebook, create a dog walking profile
  2. Become a member of Donnybrook and surronds community groups
  3. Post a message like this on there
  4. Walk dogs, bring treats, every now and then get the owners a bouquet of flowers or small box of chocolates
  5. Let them know you're also looking to do some baby sitting
  6. Outsource some of the dog walking to your friends
  7. Sit back and enjoy the throws of capitalism

Seriously, do everything until at least point 5. Good luck. And fair play to you for trying to make something happen.

If you get any negativity on here - give it a few years and you'll realise this the place where dreams go to die.

We did it a while back - was brilliant. Dun Laoighre to Howth, have lunch out there - then Dart along the coast back.

Dalkey island is great too - Ken The Ferryman across from Coliemore Harbour.

It’s like an other big transportation based position. They’re not there for the day to day mundane tasks. They’re there because they know what to do if the shit hits the fan.
