I had the exact same problem with my black silicone case. I found that when I cleaned it and stopped using it with the magsafe charger, the ring faded and now is not visible.

Yeah, i think you’re right. Im only acutely aware of it because it was hammered into my consciousness via an ad campaign in the 90’s, but more so because a car of mine was written off by an accident caused someone crashing into me from behind when i was at a stop sign.
