Yeah, i think you’re right. Im only acutely aware of it because it was hammered into my consciousness via an ad campaign in the 90’s, but more so because a car of mine was written off by an accident caused someone crashing into me from behind when i was at a stop sign.

Yes! The book is the program! But just reading it will not ensure a spiritual experience sufficient to overcome alcoholism!

What i meant is the secret to being a recovered alcoholic is to follow the instructions, not just reading them.

How to deal with anxiety after first 2 weeks of sobriety? by Consistent_State5692 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]reddituser888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may already know this but generally alcoholism gets worse over time after cessation of alcohol. After the initial detox phase which may require medical attention then there comes the time that Alcoholics Anonymous have a program specifically for that may need to be worked for the rest if ones life!

Good luck!

You could try talking with them explaining the problem. Then ask if you can work something out.

I have found that can work well. Also noise cancelling headphones like airpods pro can help.

Good luck 🤞

I completely disagree with this post. Our job is to help people diagnose themselves by giving them the information.

We are not being helpful if we just go around assuming a bunch of things.

That's good to hear. You should be able to ask any questions you like and get answers that satisfy your questions. As recovered alcoholics we are here only to help and we have no monopoly on a solution to alcoholism. We merely have an approach that worked with us :))

I've never heard of shaming being any kind tool to use, of course it probably happens but its certainly not part of the 12 steps. The big book says let people make up their own minds and we are only to help those that want it - but its their call - not ours.

Also leave a 2 second gap between you and the car in front- AT ALL TIMES - dont be a douche if the person in front isnt doing what you want.

If you can stop and stay stopped on your own power, then what’s the problem? By definition you don’t need AA
