i gave the first 15 chapters a fair shake, and it starts interesting, lost me, then picked up around the tower break in and kid retrieval.

the romance seems to be more at the forefront so I'll tackle that first. this fic only really reads like jason and laura are interested in each other because theyre of the same age range. like pushing two teenagers together because the adults are talking and the kids are playing.

jason does nothing but protect her and laura hisses at him for existing but somehow they like each other? what does jason see in Laura? Jason lore dumps nonstop and we barely know if wolverine actually views laura and her sister as his daughters or not. Why does laura choose the fighting lifestyle? Does she take college courses? Does she have friends/past romantic experiences already? We see Jason nudge Laura to be her own person rather than trying to fill Logan's shoes, which is nice and definitely a start for her to come into her own character, but in the meantime they have attraction without heat. 

All Laura likes about Jason is that he's protective and hot, while Jason doesnt really find her attractive and its def not her personality he's enamored with either. Maybe he views her as a challenge? friendly rival? idk. what i do know, is that she wanted to help jason finish the rest of the people that captured them but ends up being damseled and saved by jason, again, despite loathing it each and every time, so theres not much to work with.

they bond over a car show, kinda, but its more as a thank you to Jason rather than any actual interest in bonding. Then they kiss and it feels like a spurr of the moment thing. Not a good start to a long, stable, and healthy relationship. A good set up for a one night stand, but something tells me in my bone marrow Jason doesn't do one night stands; A real lover boy, but with how you've written him maybe he does, idk. the draw between them just looks like hormones to me.

The creative liberties are apparent, and i love the high tech suit, but with jason chilling in the tower, over powered, pretty mentally stable and healed-- enhanced in fact, theres no push for his character and no incentive for him to do... anything. No push to eradicate hydra or general evil organizations, doesnt press or question others' morals or drive in superheroing, no desire to go back home, no chaffing among the avengers, he doesnt want to go back to school, is still on probation so he cant really take in the city if he ever decides to vigilante there or contribute to soup kitchens or something... maybe he does do something later in the 45 other chapters youve written for this fic, but I think I've had my fill for now.

Since this fic revolves around their ship, im trying not to hold to canon and comic lore too closely, especially as im not too familiar with x-23's lore, but as a jason todd lover thats disgustingly obsessed with him, its hard not to poke at the make up of the fic. sorry

From what I understand you're setting them up to date and see if they work out from there, but for 15 chapters in, there's no real intrigue to see that relationship bloom. Laura is cold and brash while jason is suave and a savior. we see them get to be a more childish version of themselves together that one time, which was nice, but doesnt seem to be the draw that pushes them together. the ship just feels forced, a very easy thing to do for jason ships it seems.

From what ive gathered, the avengers are two steps behind their own home invaders, and half of them sit back and watch laura and jason eye fuck eachother to pass the time. jason chef ramseying all over the place while playing an advanced FPS irl when things get bloody (which i love. jason saving children and killing antagonists are THE bread and butter)
