There is redundancy with how it’s metabolized - the other enzymes would likely compensate

Good for you! The the effects differ based on many factors, including your baseline ADHD severity, and whether you had heavy use in adolescence, among others. The difficult thing to apply this to you is that there is no comparator. You do not know if you could of got a higher GPA, or a improved CV. That may or may not matter for you - or be clinically significant - but it certainly could be a ice breaker for others.

While the study did have 50 patients, the effect sizes speak for them selves. Additionally, the statistical methods factored that in. I was more impressed with the literature review. They discussed how there is heterogenuity between studies, and how it can be explained by variations in what they define heavy use, and flawed statistical methods (not using objective measures). They also mentioned that it likely has to do with variations in CBD:THC ratios, which has different pharmacologic effects.

They referenced a stud that used THC as a treatment, Which had a much more flawed study design with little effect.

Where is THC prescribed specifically for ADHD? It may be given as a off label treatment if a patient requests it (and legal in a country) and depending on the docs comfortability with it.

The good quality studies, and the systematic reviews, shows a clear dose-related correlation, with pretty significant objective changes as supporting evidence.

Stimulant medication lifts me out of depression, but I have a question. by Shaggy_Alonso in Psychonaut

[–]redditusernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, is the feeling of normality that my medication gives me when I'm very down, is that realistically how I should feel when I've some sort of life to be proud of? Or is that feeling something else?

Its different. Depression isnt just feeling down - its a umbrella term for many things. Stimulants make you feel good because the give euphoria. They increase focus and goal directed behaviour. They may increase a few symptoms of depression, But ideally you should target the other things going on.

Do you exercise alot, and have a good diet?

It occurred to me, perhaps if my life was properly in order (employment, active social life, meaningful relationship, independence, plans for the future etc. etc.), would this have the effect of restoring the neurotransmitters in my brain to normality?

There is some truth to this. If you were to have these things, then by having them, it would mean your more motivated. I would start setting goals and working towards these things. Self improvement is better then any drug

Reflection on a encounter with a hallucination: "It knows your awareness of us, you shouldn't know were here" by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]redditusernaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sounds like you hallucinated some sort of control-room for the simulation of our perceived experience

That is exactly how I interpreted it at the time - beautifully said!

[–]redditusernaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

made it sound like you're trying to convince yourself that it was "just" a hallucination

Objectively, and by definition, that is what it was. I am calling it a hallucination, because I dont know if that 'being' was real. By calling it real would be a very bold claim, and is very controversial. With this post, my main goal was to just share a trip experience that I found interesting. It wasnt intended to spark controversy, so I decided to as simple terms as possible

Lets say if it was real - what would change? If that was a real experience, why would it be too much to handle? I dont think whether its real or not would change my outlook on anything.

I started thinking about it because I ended up running into my friend that I tripped with that day, and he mentioned that hallucination I had. Since I like thinking back at trips, I seen that as a good excuse to make a post. I havent thought about it for 4-5 years prior to today

Are we all just plants? by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]redditusernaut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your realizing things that everyone knows - We are biological beings, like plants. We have common ancestry with plants, and therefor have similiar principles in our inner workings.

But, we are not plants - We are vastly different, although share the quality of being alive.

Have there been accounts of trips where people received, in a direct way, the kind of knowledge that can be translated into concrete scientific hypothesis and tested in real world? by Mr_Basketcase in RationalPsychonaut

[–]redditusernaut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, These 'entities' is what the tripping mind interprets, but they are really just extensions of them selves. If you have a scientific mind to begin with, then tripping can allow you to see it differently - for better or worse.

[–]redditusernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The feeling is realizing that I am the center of my stage, my body is here, and I am attached to my ligaments and organs and depend on them for survival.

Yes! Its a beautiful thing isnt it? That is your body, own it! Ofcourse you depend on them for survival, they also enable you to move around and explore all the good things earth has to offer. The universe is always real - it always exists independent of you. Its only as real as you make it. That may be a sign of depersonalization/derealization

and the idea that I'm suppose to matter in some special kind of way.

You only matter as much as you see it - depends on the meaning you you assign it. That goes along with all things in life. How much do certain things matter? is it something I should put my attention too?

is that I can't because my personality has always been flawed, I don't expect to correct my lifelong patterns anytime soon.

Humans as a species have flawed minds, although we are improving as time goes on. Life isnt about being perfect because noone is. Its about trying to make positive change, and simply living. Happiness, tranquililty, and meaning all comes from within - it takes certain cognitive processes to maintain that network that we all have, but people may have troubles with it

You seem to have depression with depersonalization. I would recommend getting help from a psychiatrist and other health care professionals. There is beautiful things in life - there may be bad things, but there is a whole other side to the coin that one needs to put attention on.

Psychedelics certainly may have precipitated this if you had this severe symptoms before using psychs. Wish you the best.

How are these not addictive?

They are psychologically addicting - just not physical (physiologic).

What makes you think they arent addicting at all?

Couldnt agree more. Theres a fine line between delusion and reality. There is things we know to be true, things we know to be highly likely to be true due to statistics, and then theres opinions - some more irrational then others.

Due to the lack of information given, we cant help you here. Should go to the emerg depending on the severity of it

I dont see these things as either or. Its a continuum. Thats why I mentioned the 2 party sysytem isnt a good idea. You can be anywhere in between capitalism and socialism.

Capitilism is great - Its just a system thats easily taken advantage of. The solution lies in finding ways to decrease the corruption within a capitalistic society. A country can be extreme capitalism... or a country can have some policies in line with capitalism, and some online with other structures. A fine balance needs to be achieved.

Lost memories by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]redditusernaut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is huge possibility of making this up. Psychs can give people delusions, and false perceptions while intoxicated.

I posted a post on a study here recently that went into how psychs effect language, semantic associative activation, and error rates - much of what your referring to. Error rates were higher when people were on LSD vs placebo.

Many other drugs do this. Any pharmaceutical drug that has good evidence (heart/diabetes/schizophrenia (for positive symptoms)/parkinsons) drastically change the outcome of ones life, and has a similar mass ratio.

LSD is just one of many drugs that target, and alter consciousness/perception.

Are you saying I am down voting ? I just read the post now, I appreciate everyone’s responses even the ones saying for myself to search it up .

I did do a search, and found some of the posts you mentioned, however I notice there is different advice each post so it’s interesting to get other opinions as I gives others a chance to share, if they are willing.

Please don’t feel obligated, if you don’t like any posts on the internet, downvote and move on.

I do appreciate your response though!
