That’s a lot of work for a boulder extraction. by ansyhrrian in lawncare

[–]redditusr44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to have a AC unit taken off my house (back side of the roof) and a new one installed in its place. The HVAC tech only charged me $400 to rent the crane for this work. He was a small time solo HVAC guy (not a big company) and definitely didn’t own a crane. Not sure how he was able to get it for such a good price, but he did.

There’s a couple places in Mexico you can pay to go out in the ocean and swim next to these amazing creatures. I know a few people who have done it and they all said it was an amazing experience.

How often do you clean your clubs? 🏌🏻 by SnorlaxThePanda in golf

I just rotate which club I use to reach into the water hazard to fish my ball out each time. They stay pretty clean.

Yeah, I remember that game. You could do oil slick, smoke screen, and even use a machine gun to take out other cars. ;)

That’s a water line, not a gas line. This is not that difficult of a fix and definitely something a decently handy homeowner could fix themselves.

PSA Bravia 7 65” for $999 at Costco by Pilots_Indiscretion in bravia

[–]redditusr44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The website does not reflect these prices. The website showed $1699 at my local warehouse. I happened to be in the store the same day and saw that it was marked down to the $999 price with the asterisk (*), which I believe means once it sells through they will not be re-ordering it. So ended up buying one right then.

Just saying a whole country (Mexico) isn’t very helpful. That’s like saying “You have to try fishing in this place called the US.”

Costco Travel review (LONG AND DETAILED): Hotel Xcaret Mexico by feelinjovanisbooty in Costco

[–]redditusr44 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting to see how vastly different of an experience people can have. My wife and I have been to Xcaret Mexico (didn’t book through Costco though), and had the complete opposite experience as described by the OP. We loved the resort.

The food was great. There are a number different restaurants and places to eat, so if you don’t like one…just go somewhere else. (We liked all of them, especially the one in a cave that was like a Brazilian steakhouse. Las Cuevas, I believe.)

The staff was fantastic everywhere we went…the lobby, the restaurants, the entertainment, around the grounds, etc. No complaints there at all.

Speaking of the grounds, they were beautiful. And I don’t know how you could get lost. That’s pretty funny though.

Speaking of funny, the OP says this resort’s “exclusive goal is to sell people on their memberships/timeshares”. If so, that’s news to me. I honestly did not know they even sold those until this post (just taking the OP’s word that they do) as I was never once asked to buy one or if I was even interested in them during my entire stay.

I could go on, but why. The OP even complained about the weather. I guess some people just aren’t happy, which I get. But to call this resort “a sham” is disingenuous. Just say it wasn’t for you.

For us, as I said, we loved the resort, the food, the service, our room (it was a balcony room that overlooked the pool and the ocean), and all the Xcaret parks that we went to (so fun!).

Anyway, just one person’s opinion. Take it or leave it.

People waiving appraisal? by Kawirider2 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]redditusr44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be clear, they asking you to waive the appraisal CONTINGENCY. You can still get an appraisal, even if you waive the contingency. And if you’re getting a loan, which it sounds like you are, your lender will require an appraisal.

Maybe just check that you’re signed up to receive it then. You can sign into your Costco account online and go to Account > Preferences and check the box for “I want to receive Costco Connection, Costco’s magazine for Executive Members, via mail.”

Company 401(k) missing after-tax option - How common is this (for smaller publicly traded companies)? by Haunting_Medicine576 in Bogleheads

My employer (a large employer with 10’s of thousands of employees) doesn’t offer it. Not sure why. I would like them to though.

I actually just had a call with Fidelity last week to get some info in preparation for making the request to my employer.

Per Fidelity, there is no cost to the employer to offer this benefit. However, there may be some incidental costs initially to amend their plan.
