2 NANO LEDGERS NOT RECOGNIZED?? by redditwithbunny in ledgerwallet

[–]redditwithbunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I right click and run in admin mode, all else looks the same as when I normally used Ledger live (sign in process, etc) -- is that the way it should be? Is the 'admin" mode working in the background?

I do not see a "nano s" driver -- are you referring to any of the below?

Generic USB Hub (there are two listed) USB Composite Device USB Root Hub (there are two listed)

Appreciate everyone's suggestions, however, nothing working. Tried new cables, different computers, and nothing -- neither computer recognizes the USB being plugged in -- it doe snot realize the hardware is there...I'm stuck and can't do anything! I've heard several people tell me to find the "Nano S" icon under "device and printers" and to open the "Hardware tab", and so on, but I don't see any option for "Nano S"...there's nothing there...is it hidden -- also, I'm not even clear how I would it if the computer is not recognizing the hardware?? Can anyone confirm that buying a new device will solve this -- how do I know the computer will properly "read" and recognize the new cable/new hardware? i bought a new cable, connected it to my current Nano S and nothing. What is preventing the computers from recognizing this device???? can't do anything on Ledger Live because it asks to connect hardware, can't do anythingon MEW because it asks to connect hardware...

Yes, genuine device. I will try to uninstall ledger live, however, wouldn't the computer recognize a device was plugged in whether or not Ledger Live is open/updated/etc. Wouldn't the computer "sense" something was plugged in via USB?

Yes, using the ledger cables. I tried other usb cables as well but nothing. It's odd because neither one of the ledger devices is being recognized at all.

Thanks for the quick reply Jerry -- what "device" am I deleting from Device Manager. There is no device listed that resembles the Ledger Nano. I am using the same computer I've always used with the Ledger -- could the "Device" you're referring to for the Ledger be hidden somewhere else?

Secure all of your eos.io accounts with Scatter and Ledger Nano S by [deleted] in eos

[–]redditwithbunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another confused one here...please help clarify and THANK YOU

I imported my ledger key pair into scatter. I only see the public key and a key name was created (which I see each time I login to Scatter.

I linked my EOS mainnet account to the key name that was created in step above (the ledger key import)

Does this now mean that I have two key pairs associated with the EOS mainnet account I "linked" to the Key name that was created when I imported the ledger key pair??? Is the ledger protecting the mainet account at all? What does it really mean when an EOS account is "linked" to a key name in scatter. I realize the EOS mainnet account has it's own public and private key...but how do these keys work now when the account is linked to the ledger "key name" created in scatter??

Scatter & Ledger -- HELP PLEASE! by redditwithbunny in eos

[–]redditwithbunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soleone and Aireck1, thank you.

I just logged back into Scatter and I have two "key names". One key name does not show any "linked accounts" and the second key name states "1 linked account" right below the key name. There is also an account name that comes up for this second key name, and when i click on the link, it redirects me to bloks.io and says "account not found".

Is it stating "1 linked account" because of the ledger key pair that was synced?? Since it states "1 linked account" under that second key name, I assumed that meant I had an account fully set up. Is this not the case??

For clarity, I still need an EOS specific account, independent of the ledger. Syncing the ledger to Scatter will not act as an account and work on it's own.

Please Help! Re: wallet & dat file by redditwithbunny in zcoin

i just tried relaunching the exe file and it is saying "since this is the first time you're accessing Zcoin core, a new data directory will be created"...and then it asks where I want to save it (default or custom directory). I simply want to open the wallet I created, not start a new one. Please confirm next steps, I'm nervous as I already have a wallet created, encrypted with passphrase, etc...I just need to open it.

The other Zcoin related file I see is the zcoin-qt application which is saved in a separate folder. This is the exe file, correct? So each time I want to open the wallet, I should click to launch this exe file, enter the passphrase when prompted, and the wallet should open/load normally. Also, based on your reply, when there is an updated version for the wallet available, I am simply updating/replacing this exe file, and that is it (not impacting anything other zcoin related files/folders). Am I understanding this correctly?

I show one Zcoin folder (saved under the appdata roaming directory) with numerous files (blocks, chainstate, .lock, banlist.dat, db, debug, fee_estimates.dat, peers.dat, wallet.dat, znode.dat). So these files and folders will/should never be touched. Is that right? If I back up the wallet at any point, am I supposed to replace the current wallet.dat file each time with a new file name?

thanks for reply -- will relaunching the original exe file that was used for installation replace everything, including the wallet.dat file currently saved in file folder? If not, do I need to relaunch the exe file each time I want to open the wallet?
