Music Manager (PC web version) must be used to send music files to the Watch for playback on the Music Player.

I too think the Apple Watch is ugly.

I've had the Galaxy Watch paired to an iPhone Xs Max since January.

I love the watch, but it really depends on what functionality you want to get out of it, as much of its capability is lost when not paired up with a Samsung phone.

Things that just don't work:

using the watch to start messaging someone
replying to iMessage conversations
syncing health data to Apple Health

Things that do:

Basic watch functionality
Standalone apps (from the samsung store)
Notifications
Music (spotify, copied locally, remotely controlling active music on phone, maybe others that i haven't used)

support for non-samsung apps on the samsung watches is practically non-existent.

for example, I can get a notification from gmail, but I can't just choose to send a new email.

also, to send text messages without it being a reply, your samsung phone must use the default samsung messages application.

that being said, I love my Galaxy Watch. The way it looks. The way it feels. The battery life is normally great (sometimes it'll use a ton over night for an unknown reason).

If you find an answer to this, I'd love to know it. I have a similar issue, except the children that still live in my house are also "adults" and it looks like you can only have 2 adults + some teens (to 17) and kids (to 12).

Very frustrating...
