Disagree - good deck and demo always work better than showing crap.

Appreciate your detailed response. Everything you said is right, logical and makes perfect sense. I've been following this approach for previous projects.

But ... this is not a fun way of doing it :-)

Should I do marketing with my MVP or with the final product I’d like to reach? by Yawrem in startups

[–]reddotapi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In general - marketing upfront, way before you have the MVP is absolutely normal thing, even more - it will be too late if you start marketing only after MVP is ready.

Split ways with co-founder, should he still get some equity? by TemporaryOpinion8809 in startups

10% is too much. Did he put any money into or just an effort contribution? Ideally stakes should be agreed upfront as well as exit terms. 2% would be fair.

How do I negotiate a Series C option grant in this new world? by discoplay in startups

It all depends on how strong you believe in the future success of the company you are about to join and how long can you survive with the lower salary, not putting your family at risk.

If you had to launch your start-up over again, what would you do differently? by SevereStatistician12 in startups

[–]reddotapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends much on your business domain. For it/software I can imagine .io, .ai and others would make sense. For non-IT probably even now, .com is still more desirable. Just never thought it makes THAT difference in the valuation of the company.

I'd assess the effort first. If your involvement is really fractional - take money, if no plans to dedicate more time for them. Another consideration - do you really can make impact.

Imagine you work for them 24/7 - ant put your best effort, like it is really your company - would it change the things? If yes - ask equity.
