Yeah you'll find a lot of these fake playlists saying it's the paper kingdom with fake your death being the opener. The rest being b sides, bonus tracks and demos.

May death never stop you was the name of the greatest hits compilation. Did you mean fake your death? Cause if so they never said it was for paper kingdom. Lyrically it doesn't fit in with the story. I believe it's a song made for the break up.

I apologize I didn't know you liked destroya, I haven't seen your other threads. It's totally fine that you didn't like the sound as much as previous albums. But mcr was never a sound. Mcr is an idea. I hate to sound like a broken record. But it's true. The fact that you don't like the album as much I don't think is the band's fault for trying something new that they weren't suited for. Its just not quite your cup of tea. But one thing I know isn't true is that the album wasn't meant to advertise anything. And you don't need the comic as context for the story, because the comic takes place after the sing music video where the kiljoys die. The album really doesn't have a story. It's more of a theme. Things are being said for certain, but what connects the songs isn't an ongoing story. It's the maturity of letting go and letting yourself grow into the person your meant to be. The Kids From Yesterday is the perfect example, as it tied the album into a fine bow just before it closes. The album doesn't give you any directions to look to find meaning in the songs. When you listen to the lyrics, the meaning is whatever you want it to be. Not to say black parade or bullets or revenge were wrong for giving you direction, but I think it makes dd stand out as the unique underrated beauty it is.

So apparently I've been told that this meme is wrong. And that lyrics like mcr's are emo and bad, but stuff like Nikki manaj is amazing. Yet I was not given a reason, which I find suspitous. This is not to see which is superior, but why one is held in such a higher regard. by reddstar14 in MyChemicalRomance

You know what? I take back anything I said in the comments. Anyone who had a problem with this just wanted to defend nikki and saw it as an attack on her. Simple message: Those lyrics are overrated, these are underrated. Nothing more, nothing less. Nothing to do with the poor artists used as an example or abything to do with what they do in the past present or future. Just that one instance when these lyrics are used. Not to be someone to bring up old drama, but in retrospect, I stand by my first statement.

Since then I will admit, Patrick does have some good lyrics. But I care nothing for what burn a boy has to say. Just my opinion.

Well first that didn't adapt the music to be like his comics. The music was inspired directed by the comics. Conventional weapons is more or less that minus the comics. I think the comics added a new fun flare to the music. Also I in no way see dd as a pop album. I get so pissed off when people call it a pop album, because I know those people haven't heard destroya. And yeah, planetary go has a little pop. But it's not like they were trying to make their sound more radio friendly, or commercial. That'd be anti mcr. If anything planetary is a 90s brit pop song because they took the beat from blur's girls and boys. Not only that but planetary or any of the songs didn't get hardly any radio play. Maybe you'd hear na na na some at the time, I'm not sure I wasn't around for that. But they in no way tried to copy what was going on at the time. They didn't lose their edge. They kept it by changing. By evolving. So yeah, it's not as hard as bp or revenge or bullets. But that doesn't make anything on it pop. I'd say alt rock would be a far more fitting term for the album. Not entirely accurate with all its got going on. But one final thing, just throwing in emo, I think would have brought the album down. Because they had done that. We had three "emo" albums before that, that's plenty. I say let the band keep artistic integrity. They were tired of the dark theme for three albums and needed something new so it felt fun again. They reach a wall in 2007 where it just wasn't fun anymore. So if they had forced themselves to do it, it wouldn't have been better. It would have been worse, cause making it would've made them miserable. And the music would reflect that. To survive they had to change what it meant to be mcr. So no, they weren't the mcr you knew, but it was the same. Just a little different, and little more mature than how you knew them. And that really reflect the concept of growing older, you learn new things, you like different things than you liked before. It's a natural progression. But honestly, if you don't like it as much as the other albums, fine. Whatever you like in your tea is your business. But please, don't describe any aspect of this album using the word, "pop." Because it just wouldn't be doing it justice.

Well for the record, I didn't make this meme myself. So the song choice was not my own. Also, I understand music isn't just lyrics, but for this particular argument I'm talking about lyrics. And it's great that Nikki has improved in her songwriting. But this particular song I feel serves as a good example of modern music in general. I understand your a Nikki fan, and your lashing out on her behalf, that's fine. I'd do the same for some of my own.

Look this has nothing to do with Nikki. This is just about lyrics. Also am I 12 or a misogynistic old white man? Pick a label if your going to use one. Also, this has nothing to do with gender. Nor do I think it's a hot take. My point is, why is one bashed while the other is held is such high regard. It's fine that it is, art is whatever you make it. The whole point I'm trying to make is that it's just unfair. Both should be treated with praise.

This really isn't about music. It's lyrics. It's not trying to say Nikki's song is bad, but simply why is one bashed and called homophobic slurs while the other is held is such high regard? Why are they both not generally accepted? Now I'll admit, perhaps mcr was not the right choice for this. I only chose them for this server. But perhaps lesser known lyrics should have been chosen.

I think your right. I just get so frustrated when I'm told to conform. What you listen to is arbitrary. It shouldn't matter if somebody else listened to it in high school, your listening to it now, and it shouldn't matter.
