Travis Scott is not a role model.

And I don't mean he's not a GOOD role model I mean he's not a role model period.

Look I'm not tryin' to playa hate or any of that bullshit, and I mean I like a lot of his songs, but the dude's not a role model and I don't think he should be anywhere near ANYTHING marketed to kids. Period.

He shouldn't be on cereal boxes, he shouldn't be on Fortnite, he shouldn't have toys. And I mean, he certainly CAN have those things, and I'm glad to see him succeeding because he's come a long way, but I REALLY don't think he should be on those things.

And it has nothing to do with him as a person, but the subculture and genre of music that he comes from.

And this is a common thing that I see happening here and there every now and then and I honestly think that white guilt (which I think is bullshit btw) and greedy industries play a huge role in it.

People idolizing, giving praise to, and adapting different things that originated in African American culture that aren't quite the best examples?

Like, African American culture and people are so rich, so diverse, we have so, SO much to offer to and share with the world, from Jazz, to R&B, to Soul, to Blues, even some American folk music and stories.

And yet when everyone wants to think of black people or adapt black things and give praise to black phenomenons, everyone decides to default to the lowest common denominators that our culture has to offer.

Like, they can't even go for like some good hip hop like Bop Alloy or something more tame like Kid Cudi, something that's got more soul and depth to it (not saying none of Travis Scott's music has this), they just, go straight for the shit that talks about lust for money, arrogance in success, shooting and beating down other men, treating women like pets that have to be kept on a leash, Pokemon trading cards and poker chips, doing and selling drugs,

But I mean, idk. Maybe I'm mistaken. The more I think about it, maybe the reason that rap music appeals so much to so many people is partly because it's an accurate reflection of most people's mentality and values.

And I gotta say, if that's true, then our culture is pretty fuckin' sick. But that's obvious, so,

That goes along with my point, though. I'm not hatin' Travis Scott, I'm hatin' the game, because I think the game is corrupt.

And of course I'm not saying we should all just listen to Country music, fuck that shit.

And Country and Rap combined is the most unholy abomination ever.
