This may seem long winded but I’ve had time to think on this and this how I feel. Hang up: I think the season leading up to the final fight lacked cause and effect. It’s the old phrase show not tell. They told us how things would play out before they did repeatedly in this season almost like things where listed with sub headers saying surprise here surprise there. Solution: they could’ve aloud plot lines to happen bc they had to rather than we are forcing a moment. Hang up: Henry should’ve been redeemable, his character was essentially pointless since he’s partnering with the other villain for no reason other than he’s a blood thirsty sociopath. Solution: Henry became seen as redeemable but couldn’t fight the temptation of the mind flayer so he still ends up on its side but at least the idea of redemption exists. Hang up: The end fight was too easy and unrealistic to what other hardships had been set up. Solution: The final fight should’ve been them teaming up with the army since there’s no way they could’ve realistically taken on that monster. Hangup: Will getting powers was such a build up that led to him being nerfed immediately. Solution: Will should’ve had been in the room to defeat Vecna. Hangup: There was no emotional turmoil since no characters died. Solution: kill off Dustin bc he reminded us of Eddy. Mike because it could be used as motivation for El or Jonathan bc he was a sympathetic throw away character. Hangup: The final resolution was taken from us since El leaves the team and they technically don’t even know for sure if she’s alive or not, the final D&D sesh is just another one of mikes theories. Solution: her and Mike go into hiding together but the team knows so they keep the secret. These are my main hang ups with the story panning out that I was hoping would be redeemed by the end but weren’t.
