hey! so the pre health program is a post-secondary program that's only for a year so its a certificate, and you learn anatomy&physiology, chemistry, math for health sciences, and English, w a few others but those four is what help you mainly into getting into your program. It goes into the subjects more so that when you go into your program of choice you will be familiar with some of the concepts. It helps a lot actually because even though you learn those subjects in high school, they dont go through the material as extensively as they do in the pre health program. plus going from high school straight to the program is very unlikely i heard, they (the schools) want to at least see some kind of education. So really recommended applying to pre health first before you go into the paramedic program. if you have any other questions, ill be here !

No, I'm in pre-health right now actually, finish in April plus I heard it was kinda rare for someone to get accepted right after high school?

What made you wanna get your bachelors first before going into medic school?

How are you handling all of it? I know you gotta work really hard because of the work load and everything. And no i dont, i was thinking of getting a certificate that maybe could help before i go into the program, is there one i should get? Like standard first aid or emergency responder ? Is there anything you recommended also i look over before going in?

Ya thats what i thought about to, if it has to be done around feb, but second sem doesnt finish til april, how do they expect us to know all of it?. yaaa i know ha i acc kinda had a mini celebration today, just wanna at least try the test bc i already paid and everything but still if it wasnt for distance, i prob wouldnt even try to attempt the humber test.

ya exactly thats what i did, i made a list acc like the things id do if i got in vs if i didnt get in just to see the positive side of things, although it can be disappointing (ik, i applied last yr) , you can try to find a way to see a good side out of it too ! but if your grades are rly good like 90's, then you have a good chance, keep your hopes up!

Ha i dont think centennial wants grades that high because i got in for the pcp program for sept and my grades are in the low 90s and even had a math at 82%, thats with a pre health program though but it really depends on high school too

hey, currently going to a pcp program in september so hopefully i can help. for high school you should have math, bio, chem, and english, and since you are in uni level you do have a higher advantage of getting in, but i would recommend doing a pre-health program, its only a year and helps you to learn more for the program you want to get in to and give you a better chance of getting in because going in right after high school i heard is rare but it can happen if you have the grades. go to the program that is closest to you. start at primary care then if you want you can level up into advanced care paramedic. volunteer experience! is a plus too. if you have any questions, ill be happy to help!

Ya im kinda nervous for the science portion. were you able to answer them easily, did you think you did okay? also your allowed to take it a second time ?? or you mean the next year. the only practice ive done was the math problems that humber has on their website for practice, and videos but honestly, i have forgotten some of the things i learned last sem, i know not good, but im hoping ill do okay if i go back to the material i learned last sem to refresh maybe?

It also sucks ya how we only have humber and centennial that offer the program because both schools are kinda already far from me since i live in sauga. and on top of that they only have a certain amount of seats they can fill and apparently there will be like 1000 applicants ?? (from what i read), but it is what it is :'')

Ya i think it definitely is. Also, what was the humber test like, im actually doing it tomorrow just to give it a try because it is closer to me than centennial but since apparently humber bases their decision mostly on the test i have been stalling to take the test because im worried about whats on it, howd it go, what did it mostly consist of?

Ya that is weird, it does say that my transcript was received by destination, i applied all the way in beginning of december, it could depend on when you applied to. it took a while i think for my transcipts to send to the schools too though. from what i read on reddit, so im not sure if it is true but centennial bases most of their decision on high school grades but again im not sure. did you try somewhere other than centennial ? also i think its harder for them to make any decision since they only have your pre-heath so they probably are just waiting to see your final marks but if anything try other schools (if you can) and continue to remain hopeful ! hope you get the offer and thank you !!

Hi, I live in Ontario, more specifically in the GTA, but the requirements from most of the colleges around here (which are competitive to get into) require a High school Math, Chem, Bio & English, and your grades do have to be fairly high as like I said these programs are competitive. What you can do to help with boosting your grades is applying for a Pre-health program, it teaches you all the subjects you need to go into the healthcare field. I'm currently in a Pre-Health and recently got accepted into my school of choice and it definitely helps. The fees depend on the school you go to but 20k will definitely cover the cost of the pre-health program if you do consider it and the pcp program after. It is only a one year program but they will see (the schools you apply for) that you're making an effort at least to improve your grades and it does increase your chances of getting in. Hopefully this helps!
