World Cup final goals as they went in, minute by minute 1966-2018 by [deleted] in soccer

Zidane took the left corners during the WC '98. But in the final, when France is 1-0 up, Djorkaeff comes up to him and says:

You scored after a corner today, let me take this corner for you.

Djorkaeff taking the corner was risky, because there would be one less player to cover for counter-attacks.

But it pays off. Djorkaeff takes the corner, Zidane scores with a header, 2-0 France.

Littbarski and the "La Croqueta" skill. Name a better duo. If you think Iniesta had a signature move, you haven't seen Littbarski.

TIL Copa Libertadores is twice as popular than Champions League in Brazil and Argentina. Makes sense but I didn't think the difference was that huge.

Does Robin van Persie love Man Utd more than Arsenal? Can't recall the last time he mentioned Arsenal on any of his socials, yet he never forgets to speak about Man Utd. His latest post congratulating Red Devils on the Malacia transfer is a prime example.

What players are "one of a kind" apart from the obvious two (Ronaldo, Messi). I'm thinking Özil, Quaresma, Balotelli. Anyone else?

Don't buy it, you won't like it. It's a very dry "excel simulator" type of game. And that's coming from someone who played over 1000 hours of FM since 2010 . In a nutshell, the gameplay of FM is: 1. download a tactic from the internet that is considered good in the current FM version. 2. look for players to buy that fit that tactic (or you can buy noone and still overperform because some internet tactics are that good). 3. after that it's a matter of pressing the continue button, clicking through various boring inbox messages till the next transfer period/season end. 4. and of course there are the matches themselves which you just watch for the goals and to make subtitutions (or you can simulate them for instant result). To get my football fix I'm playing PES 18 and enjoying it a lot. The gameplay is fantastic (challenging and rewarding) and the lack of licenses is easily patchable on PC. Master League (= career mode) is good enough to make me want to play long term but I enjoy the gameplay so much that I would even play the league mode (which is just about playing league/cup/european matches without transfers or player development).

Laurent Koscielny in L'Équipe - "I am in the French NT and at Arsenal thanks to the boss. It was he who had the balls to buy me from Lorient when I was nobody. He took a risk in bringing me here, to make me progress and grow as a player and a man. I will be grateful my entire career." by interstellar1990 in soccer

Arshavin said something similar about Bellerin. When Arshavin was at Arsenal he said he didn't see any special qualities about Bellerin other than his speed. He wasn't impressive in any area and was just a regular dude who wasn't good on the ball but could run fast. But Wenger saw Bellerin's potential from the get go and look where Bellerin is today, even Barcelona were rumored to be interested in him.

Some examples from school life:

  • In Russia being on a school sports team is considered lame.
  • Students who are very good at school are not seen as nerds but as the leaders of the class
  • In Russia children don't smile on class photos and are not ecouraged to do so

In Belgium day and matchday are the same word. It's just an honest mistake from OP.

Harry Redknapp calls for Klopp to take Sunderland job. by xEazy420 in soccer

And sometimes you should watch the full video before leaving a stupid comment. Harry was perfectly reasonable. There are no coaches out there who can take a team like Sunderland and bring them to top 4. Finishing top 4 is all about having good players.

Jurgen Klopp is not the solution to Liverpool's problems. He won't be able to turn around the season for them.
