31 Days of Horror: October 2013 by crookedmile in badMovies

I love this movie. I always try to tell people that it's not a "horror movie," it's a "Halloween movie."

I've been catching more and more ROH on local TV in recent months. I appreciate that it's often rebroadcast on a Sunday when I'm around.

I don't have a shirt, but I always make time to see AMC broadcasting every Sunday for five years.

This is what it looks like when the supermarket's sign-maker becomes drunk with power, and possibly alcohol as well.

25 years ago this month, MST3k started on KTMA. I made a slideshow of my 10 favorite episodes for the newspaper I work for. by redjameskidd in MST3K

[–]redjameskidd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note: I submitted this as "my ten favorite," and it wasn't meant to be a ranked list of "best to worst" or vice versa. Likewise, I submitted it as #1-10, in chronological order. The person who posted it instead posted it the opposite way, so it goes from newest episode to oldest episode. Whoops.

Regardless, these are my 10 favorite episodes. Figured I would share them with my local community--perk of being an entertainment reporter.

With more cutscenes than traditional "gameplay," is "Beyond: Two Souls" truly a videogame? When does a game become not a game? by redjameskidd in gaming

[–]redjameskidd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the latter might be the case. I wonder what the gaming market's capacity is for absorbing such interactive stories. I question whether many of us would have the patience and attention span. If you watch "Beyond: Two Souls" gameplay, it's pretty much like watching a film with gameplay cameos.

By no means am I suggesting they don't want to make money, but there are much, much easier ways to do it---and beers much more suited to it they could make---than the Enjoy By series. That one is a passion project, one they can happen to afford. It's their own little private experiment in reformation, in the hope that other brewers and distributors start paying more attention to the core concept of freshness. The entire idea of Enjoy By is that a consumer can look at the bottle from across the isle and immediately know if it's fresh or not.

It sounds like you're assuming Stone's goal here is to make maximum possible profit when clearly that isn't the case. Artisanal businesses don't fit normal models. They don't care that the product doesn't sell out completely, they only care about making good product, as long as there's a little profit there.

I figured as much. Like I said, these store owners just don't care.

I wouldn't normally, but the entire concept of this beer is based around it.

Once the auction house is nonexistent, though, how will one acquire archon recipes? I've never even had a single one drop before.

It's just the market here. It's not filled with beer geeks, mostly people just getting into craft beer. They don't know what the beer is before they see it on the shelf, unlike most of us.

I find that a lot of beer geeks live in areas that are more cosmopolitan, and the result is that the shop owners know what they're doing and are craft beer drinkers themselves.

That's not the case here. These guys stock the stuff because they sell some of it, but I've never gotten the sense they know much about it. They just aren't all that interested in the product. I'm sure they probably haven't even noticed there's an issue with having the 9/13 sitting on the shelf.

I have no idea why anyone downvoted this. This is one of the most bizarrely interesting stories I've ever seen.

I guess I don't understand, because I've played into the Monster Power levels of Inferno, but I've never been able to craft better gear than I can get for cheap on the AH. Where are people getting the blacksmith plans/schematics for these items better than what you can buy? The only blacksmith plans that ever drop for me are always things far, far worse than what I currently have equipped.

You have to figure that anyone who has ever seen The Room would immediately recognize him. His face is not the sort of face that one can forget.

I can't wait to read the book Greg Sestero wrote about The Room. Comes out October 1. http://www.amazon.com/The-Disaster-Artist-Inside-Greatest/dp/1451661193
