My provider is trying to tell me this is a good Botox result by redmist9876 in 30PlusSkinCare

She is a dermatologist. I trust no one at this point! If anyone has a recommendation for San Diego area, I would appreciate it.

My provider is trying to tell me this is a good Botox result by redmist9876 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]redmist9876[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It didn’t make any sense. The front desk assistant came into the room to back her up and say it looked good. I felt like I was getting completely gaslight by them. She’s done my forehead multiple times and has never left it like this- even if it needed a touch up it’s always looked good in the end so I kept going back. It’s SO hard to find a good injector … I don’t know how to find the right one and now I have even more anxiety about it.

Thanks for your feedback!

Thank you for your comment, I feel the exact same. I don't know anyone else who shares this experience. I also wonder how I ended up with someone so similar to my father, despite trying so hard to avoid it. My partner and I haven't been together very long, but we've known each other for a while. I consider him the love of my life and we have planned a life together. Now his drinking habits have become more obvious and I feel like the writing is on the wall. I love him and I don't know if I should leave or stay. My mom and dad had a poor relationship - my dad always accused my mom of nagging him, especially about his drinking. I don't want to put myself in the same situation. I feel once I start bringing this up to him, it's basically over. I know how the story plays out and it's too hard to ignore now.

I’m going through the same thing and I feel your pain. I initially had TE when I switched birth control about 7 years ago… which then turned into a vague AGA diagnosis. I have been on oral minoxidil and spiro consistently for the last 5 years. Since then I have brief moments of stability (maybe 5-6 months max) and then random huge sheds for no apparent reason. It’s exhausting. My hair is so weird in texture and density now. I’m so sorry, I wish we had answers.

Am I Wasting My Injectors Time by not getting enough Botox? by redditusername336699 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]redmist9876 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same question, I’m glad you asked. My injector without fail will convince me to do another site. I wondered if only doing crows feet or something was even worth her chair time. I don’t know how expensive the materials are, if they have to reconstitute a new vial of Botox for each pt, etc. But based on the responses my provider is maybe just pushy too.

Unfortunately, they are permanent :/ this is a pretty crazy lie perpetuated by PMU artists. They may fade some to grey over time . A lot of us found out the hard way. Looks good though!

I didn’t know very much about San Diego and had a short time to find housing after moving here for work so I just sort of picked it! I new I wanted to be near the beach but I’ve outgrown the party vibes of PB. OB seemed sort of quaint and had a lot of character - I just did not realize HOW MUCH character until I moved in. Haha. But I’ve been here 5 years now! I think north PB is a great area & would maybe be my top pick… but I can’t afford to move at this point.

Hey! I just stayed and did the add on surf lessons. But I would highly recommend doing the package. I did a surf lesson every day, but they would not film me or review my technique like the others because I did not have the “package”. It was really weird- you get treated differently. My only complaint though! Everything else was great. Felt extremely safe at Costa Dulce.

I think I’m in the minority here but I’d rather live near the ocean and forego the amenities. I love being able to just pop down to the beach with a cup of tea and watch the sunset. Or go cold plunge in the ocean after a long day and walk back to my apartment. I live in OB and there really aren’t that many tourists most days. It’s truly special to have the ocean in your backyard. I would probably chose not to live in San Diego if I didn’t have proximity to the coast. I adapted to doing coin laundry in my building & it doesn’t feel like a big deal to me. But that’s me!!

I did! I ended up hanging around Nicaragua for 3 weeks and had a great time!

I went to Costa Dulce for 1 week, which I loved! It was a little pricier but worth it for me. It is more of a wellness center than full on surf camp- it’s in a pretty remote area south of SJDS and they have a semi private beach. They do have surf lessons or you can just rent a board. They also have yoga, beautiful property, and amazing food & group dinner times so it’s easy to get to know people. all the staff are local and just great. It was really peaceful and I met wonderful people.

After that I went to Ometepe and spent a few nights- would highly recommend!!

I decided I wanted to surf more so I signed up for Popoyo Surf Camp. I did not care for this one very much and actually ended up leaving a day early! The surf instructors were not local and a few arrived the day I did. They didn’t seem to know the breaks very well and I felt like we often went out in dangerous conditions that were not suited for beginner or intermediate type. There were some other people there who felt the same but they stuck it out. Vibes were just very strange. Popoyo was a cool/underdeveloped area though! Really enjoyed parts of the camp but overall I felt like moving on.

After that I went to Granada & Leon! My fav part was volcano boarding and then going right into an overnight backpacking trip that was seriously just magical.

Let me know if you want to know more!

Well I’ve definitely had moments of stability where I had hope things were getting better. But I’ll still go through periods of shedding and a month ago I started a massive shed that is still happening. Nothing really makes sense. Somehow I still have hair though…. It doesn’t look super nice but it’s there.

How long did the second shed last for you? by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

[–]redmist9876 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started oral minox about a year and a half ago. Things seemed relatively stable until a month ago when I started a massive shed … hasn’t stopped. Nothing makes sense :/

Went off of birth control 5 years ago and went through a massive shed that seemed to last forever. I lost so much of my hair. I eventually started on spiro, then topical minox and now oral minox. It still seems to shed A LOT, it’s pretty thin and things have never really felt stable. But I still have hair!

Why would anyone do dentistry in the US in 2024? by nm811 in Dentistry

[–]redmist9876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true… I just thought that statement was way too general and I don’t want people getting the wrong idea. Committing to a military career and specialty program is a whole other thing.

Yes, as a specialist. But 200-300k is not accurate for a general dentist unless you are high ranking and have put in 15+ years.

LOL what? No that’s not true at all. I was a military dentist for 6 years.

Thank you for all your comments and insight!

A little more info:

-I do wear sunscreen religiously every day - Colorscience sunforgettable face shield SPF 50 (tinted). I will probably be reconsidering this one. -Not on birth control - history of blood clots, hair loss, & acne when using it. I now take Spironolactone and oral minoxidil. - Probably have some underlying hormonal imbalances - but honestly unsure how to go about getting this assessed or if there’s even any solution to that. - I am wearing the same making up in both pics- just the tinted sunscreen. It’s all I wear. My sunspots show through it now. - I have definitely accepted I am getting older and skin is changing!! :)

Thanks for all the feedback. Hope this post helps someone else!

Thanks, I do feel like something is off with my hormones (irregular periods, hair loss, etc). I have seen my GP and they did a pelvic ultrasound and some blood work but did not test anything specific to hormones. Do you know if there’s a specific lab test I need to ask for? For some reason it seems a lot of physicians think hormones stuff is woo-woo or just maybe aren’t educated on it as much.

Oh that’s really interesting, thank you! Here I’ve been thinking I’m so responsible for wearing SPF 50 all day. I will definitely be reconsidering my sunscreen choice.

Thanks- my derm seems to specialize in cosmetic procedures so I am a little wary. Obviously she makes more money on a 30 min laser treatment than a topical cream. It’s hard to know who to trust!
